And it has nothing to do with modes right? This guy seems to be pretty sure it's in A mixolydian

I'd say Db Mix

To me Db definitely sounds like the tonal centre, but it has a flattened 7.

Modes are a whole world of pain that you really don't want to get in to
My Soundcloud
Always up for some C4C, been compared to Frank Turner, The Cure's Robert Smith and Bruce Springsteen so check out my stuff if you like the sound of that

I'm hearing a Dbsus4 and a Bsus4 in the verse, it just switches between tonalities, it's not just in Db major because of that E in the second chord (B)
Fender Jaguar -> Polytune -> Diamond Compressor -> Timmy -> OCD -> Big Muff -> Line 6 M9 -> Sonomatic Cheddar -> Spark boost -> Fender BDRI

And no, it has nothing to do with modes...

Modes are not exactly *used* that way. There are some good lessons about it here in UG

No it doesn't - the presence of an out of key note doesn't automatically chnge tonality.

You can't solely work these things by what you can write down on paper, you need to listen too.

I'd say Db with a b7 commonly used.

Tell that to Beethoven.

I would, but he's deaf so he wouldn't hear me.

Also, he's dead.

Two points:

Beethoven wasn't deaf until very late in his career.

When you have a highly developed ear, you know exactly what something will sound like without having to hear it. By the time Beethoven was deaf, therefore, it wasn't particularly relevant to his ability to know what something would sound like.

Beethoven had pp, he could have gone deaf in the beginning of his career and still kicked ass

If he didn't commit suicide first... He would probably have lost all of his motivation, which he almost did, but more so if it happened earlier in his career.
