I think I've hit a point where I'm happy with what I have regarding guitar gear, but still looking to expand my setup.

My current setup is:
Schecter Hellraiser for heavier stuff
Agile AL-3100 for not so heavy stuff
Peavey Valveking 112
Vox AD15
Pod XT Live

I really don't play shows anymore. I am thinking a new amp should be my next purchase? A quality tube combo I'm guessing. Also threw around the idea of a strat. I play every type of music except country and blues.

My leet rig
Schecter Hellraiser
Agile AL-3100
Ibanez RG120
Alvarez RF8
Yamaha G-55 Classical
Peavey Valveking
Vox AD15VT
Pod XT Live
Ibanez Weeping Demon

Budget, Location, etc?

Check out Blackstar. I played a Series One 45 (2x12 combo) and it was freakin awesome. I think the HTs are supposed to be pretty good too. And they're pretty versatile imo.

You could look for one of the newer POD HDs?

Amp-wise would you be looking for something that works with mellower clean tones?

I think I'd go with an amp over a pod, and versatility is my main goal. Good cleans but must also be able to play metal - modern, high gain stuff.

Again I will suggest the Blackstar Series One 45. Just to be annoying.

Series One would be a good (but expensive) choice. Same could be said for some sort of Mesa Rec. Maybe a Marshall DSL or something?

you need a tele.

sell the VK and Vox to add to the amp budget.

I agree with this guy. It doesn't need to be a tele but have you thought of getting something with single coils for more versatility?

I think this is the first time I've seen someone say "I think I need a new amp" and have people reply "what you really need is a new guitar"

fwiw i told him he should save up for a new amp. mega versatile all tube bedroom only type amps aren't cheap.

but right now he needs a tele.

assuming by "everything except blues and country" he meant he did play something other than metal.

like maybe some classic rock.

not that you can't play metal on a tele. i heard dimebuckers work quite well in them somewhere on the interwebz.

actually TS - an amp you should consider is a CEC Amps Toll Free Express. It's 10 watt and very versatile, all tube, built by a guy that Merlin calls when he has electronic engineering questions who also breeds jack-o-lopes, snipes and miniature unicorns.

your missing a quality shredder.

sell the VK, get a $4-$500 blackstar combo (if thats what your looking at)

and spend the rest on a nice shredder D

Thanks for the replies guys! I am going to see if any dealers have the Blackstar available for me to try out. I'll probably go with it as my "big purchase". As for a Tele, I think I might just pick up a lower-end one; I could always get an American down the road.

And yes I do play music other than metal haha. Indie and classic rock are pretty much taking over my interests. I dabbled in the whole shreddy deathy metal scene for a while. I think I'll pick up a "shredder" if I get back into that. I can play my Schecter plenty fast for that type of music as it stands.

Did I read your budget wrong? $1500?

With that much, get a used Mesa Roadster combo. Amp issue solved forever.

Then sell your cheap stuff and get a Tele.

Blackstar ht1r head with a nice 2x12 cab will be sweet. And not get too loud or your bedroom.

Get a strat too?

oh i know. no worries.

in this case though a tele would fit the bill well with a nice amp.

but yea, the comedy of "what you need is a new guitar" i get.

but he needs an amp too lol.

like i said.....quality shredder

no but i dont mean anything death metal-ee. something like a charvel with a top mount FR would be great for tons of music with that vintage shredder feel
