Hey all, a friend of mine is writing a horror story and needs songs to inspire him and keep him in the mood, so i come to the very knowledgeable pit for help.

please if you do post a song make sure its "artist-song name" and if you can also post a video that would help a ton.

Insane Clown Posse

They've got some really deep stuff. Good quality music, but it's got that horror vibe. Everyone should check them out. Good band

There's this European noise band whose name I'm forgetting... They use sounds from mental institution patients, or something. Pretty scary shit.

Someone remember the name?

Honestly, not exactly sure what you're going for but I guess you could try Iron Maiden
Songs like:
Hallowed be thy Name
The Number of the Beast
Sign of the Cross
Fear of the Dark

W.A.S.P - The Headless Children
Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Dio - Don't Talk to Strangers
Party on Wayne. Party on Garth.

Cannibal corpse instrumentals such as infinite misery and from skin to liquid always give off that kind of "horror movie" feeling to me.
IT'S OVER 9000!!!!

The Somatic Defilement (album) by Whitechapel.
Though it's not supernatural horror. The intro track has a sample of an interview with a convicted serial killer which is a bit creepy

Warweb by Buckethead. SO GOOD.

Not a metal or ambient track, either. Strings and spoken word. Just for a change.

Dance With the Devil by Immortal Technique. It's rap but it's still haunting. He sampled the Stan Kenton Orchestras riff of Love Story that I played in High School... intense.

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

Most stuff by Nick Cave or Tom Waits
Ballad Of Hollis Brown by Bob Dylan is rather eerie
So is North Country Blues
The Freaks by Cortex is another great one.
sometimes I see us in a cymbal splash or in the sound of a car crash

No.

Well, technically it could be done, but only in the same way that you could change a cat into a hamburger. It's an unpleasant process, and nobody is happy with the result.
