With the digital age, it seems there are a lot fewer times when one would have to use checks instead of a checking card. I'm not saying that those instances no longer exist, but personally I've yet to be in a situation where I've had to write a check.

So my question is do you, members of the pit, ever find yourself writing a check to pay for things? And if so, what?

Car servicing.
Roofing/construction work.
That kind of jazz.

Also: cheque.

When I was younger my parents would send checks with me to music lessons, dentist appointments, etc and I'd fill 'em out, but I've never used a check of my own to pay for anything. I'm a cash or debit kind of guy.

I use checks frequently. All the time actually, I just used one to get my motorcycle permit again earlier this month. They're a useful tool.

Spell-checks occasionally, but otherwise I don't have much need for ticking generally.

1. Paying bills via mail
2. Dropping off rent payments to my landlord in person (can't give her $1300 in cash)
3. Some school fees need to be paid via check

That's about it.

I never use checks. I suppose someday when I live on my own & I'll have to write out checks for rent & various other things that you need in the "real world".

I prefer to use cash, 'cuz that way my spending is limited to what's in my pocket. But sometimes I order stuff from the "Internet", in which case obv. I gotta use a card.

Being sorry indicates a lack of determination to be good at assholery.

Shows what you know; those from the Indian subcontinent are coloured, what you might call a Black, we tend to call Ethiops, or Fuzzy-Wuzzies.

As opposed to the American system of referring to them as 'Prisoner' and then a number? which I've always found to be an odd tradition.

You don't write a check. You right a cheque, and then check it's write.

OT: No.
#33
Not anymore because the majority of businesses run your check just like a credit/debit card to see if there is enough money in your account to cover the check.
#34
Rent. That's pretty much it though.

Maybe about once a day I see someone write a cheque and hand it to me at my work, but not very often.

I don't use cheques
