go with either a Celestion Vintage 30 or maybe a Celestion Seventy 80 to open up the midrange and some booming growl

Yeah, I'd just go with a Vintage 30.

yes sir. I put one in the same amp, REALLY opens it up.

If you're not looking for the vintage 30 sound they've got a lot of others that may work better for you. http://wgs4.com/ (website)

+1 to Wgs. Except I would say the retro 30. It has tighter bottom end and more articulate than the Vet 30, judging from what they say. I have them, and I like them.

Ok so I think I'm gonna get this one,
EVM12L BlackLabel
Zakk Wylde signature guitar speaker
http://www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=308
and my amp says its 4, 8 or 16 ohms (switchable), so i'm assuming i can use a speaker with with those three ohms right?

I highly advise against that speaker. For one, it's a signature model which means it's going to be too expensive for what it fundamentally offers.
Second, if you've ever heard his live tone, you'd know it's not that good.
Third, the Eminence Man o War is freaking awesome.

PS. Yes, you can use a speaker with either of those resistance values.
Ceci n'est pas une signature.

I heard him live and it sounded good to me. Maybe i was just too busy fapping to all his glory to notice lol

What i'm going for is a gutsy, balls out, speaker that would fit the needs of a gain *****.

If you're concerned about tone, use the highest impedance possible. If you use the 8 ohm tap, you're using 77% of the signal being generated. If you use the 4 ohm tap, you're only using 50% of the signal your amp is generating.

As far as speaker suggestion, Man O War is a fine choice. That being said, I don't have the best ear for a metal tone.

Looking at their spec sheets it depends on what you're after:

Both have similar low end characteristics, so we can't really judge on that end.

The Man O War is louder and will have more high-mids, but Swamp Thang has more highs.

Either way would be a good speaker. I think the Man O War is a better metal speaker. Whichever you get, please make sure you get the 16 ohm version to get the most out of your amp.

Ok thanks for all the usefull information and suggestions! Just put my order in for a 16 ohm Eminence Swamp Thang 12"!
