For all this talk about black and white people, I have yet to see for myself a single person who is black or a single person who is white! What gives, pit?

For reference:

BLACK

WHITE

Seeing the word Black is very racist and offensive. I prefer the term African American.

Black-outs = African American outs

black top = African American top

Black Hole Sun = African American Hole Sun.

Well TS you do know that when white people first encountered black people, colour didn't exist. Everything was black and white. Colour came around when colour television first came out on the market. Everyone knows that.

There are brown people in India and Bangladesh.
Those countries are not in the Middle East.

If you think about it

the "Middle East" used to be called the Near East and East Asia is the Far East. So in a sense India and the like would be the Middle East.

Why would I trust your opinion? You wholeheartedly, without a doubt, believed that there was no such thing as colour until the television came out. Look at who's whacked here...

This is true. Most African Americans where I live have brown skin, not black. A lot of "white" people have very tan skin too.

I was born after colour television. Most of the stuff way back before me was taught to me by my parents. Didn't your parents tell you the same?

"Black" and "white" are just words. In one context they can mean the colour (In HTML; #000 and #FFF respectively), but in another they can describe a person's race. That doesn't mean a "white" person has to have the skin colour that is the same as the colour.

please, tell me why "black" should be used to refer to anything except things that are black, and "white" to things that are white -- the question seems not so obvious to me. why should I just take for granted that those words and the entire concept of race has meaning, that it refers to actual qualities in people? show me why they should carry any significance at all worth mentioning when it comes to trying to understand other people's lives?

And pacific islanders

Maybe you should try inter racial breeding to gain insights on what it's like to live in both worlds. I'm a product of inter racial breeding, personally it's a unique experience, to not actually belong to anything definitive.

i might also mention the amount of symbolism attached to the "white/black" duality thingy...black and white have the biggest visual contrast, for one thing...they're associate with day and night, good and evil...."black magic" is evil and "white magic" is good, for instance.

so to say "oh, well of course no one's really black or really white, we've simply rounded to the nearest pigment" seems sort of short-sighted to me, considering they are completely useless as descriptors, on the one hand, and that they're used as potent symbols, on the other.

Are you from Africa? Are you parents? Did you come from a country other than America?

If you answered no to any of these, I will still call you black. You are not African American, just black, and I will discriminate more than ever because I find your username racist.

In return, you may call me white, cracker, honky, or any other word you can think of. It's only fair that if I call you black, you call me white, or any other term.

If you choose not to accept these terms, I will only call you Horsedick.MPEG, and you may call me anything you want.

EDIT: This post makes me seem mad. I ain't even mad.

If racist white people hate colored people...and the color white is actually all colors put together and black being no colors...does that mean white people are the only colored people?

Pigments and light form different colors when mixed. All pigments will eventually create a black color, as more and more wavelengths are absorbed, but all wavelengths are shown when all light colors are mixed.

Yea there is discrimination...
There always will be..
It will never stop..
If it bothers you, get used to it.
It will just get worse in the future and more problems will be arising.
Different races of people will never live in harmony. It's as simple as that.
Between a black person and a white person or a yellow person and a pink person there are more differences than just the color.
White people don't always get along with white people.. So I don't see how it's so hard for the world to just admit, that certain races will never get long either.
It's almost like an instinct in us humans.

With this I'm not saying a black person will never be able to make friends with a white, no that is not true. I personally have a couple of cool black friends. But I believe you know what I mean and if you don't, well then just open your eyes and look at some main problems in the world.

Discrimination must not be due to a certain race it can also be because of different view for example in religion...
