Hello
I am looking for a guitar that's suitable for heavy metal. To be more specific...

Something with EMGs
24 frets would be nice (but it doesn't have to)
I DON'T like guitars with weird shapes (flying v etc.)
NO whammy bars of any kind
Try to keep the price around 400-550 dollars

Suggestions?

Get an LTD. The H, MH, and EC should be exactly what you are looking for. For that price ranger I would go for an MH-350 or an EC-401.

LTD MH-350NT is 620. Worth the price increase, IMO.

Outside of that, maybe a Jackson X series of some sort? I think the SLXT is in your range.
Current Gear:
LTD MH-400 with Gotoh GE1996T (EMG 85/60)
PRS SE Custom 24 (Suhr SSH+/SSV)
Ibanez RG3120 Prestige (Dimarzio Titans)
Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz V
Audient iD22 interface
Peavey Revalver 4, UAD Friedman BE100/DS40
Adam S3A monitors

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Sturgeon's Revelation: “Ninety percent of everything is crap.”

Why, yes, I am a lawyer- thanks for asking!

Log off and play yer guitar!

Strap on, tune up, rock out!
