Oh shit, you're doing a drum entry. I'll have to try to come up with something half-decent this time then

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I just noticed what you put down for my entry....

It's still killing me that I had to drop out this time.

My cover of Michael Chapdelaine's California Dreaming:

Which was for easy guitar, but I struggled with it.

I know the feeling.
I'm going to have to quit on my other entry, which was for intermediate guitar.

Can't manage it -- not even recording it section by section. Or slowing down. I might use it as an entry in a couple of months!

Here's my guitar cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv9aF8mMUig

After... Half a bottle of wine, and on my 5th beer... >_>

That's a feasible excuse yes?

Edit: Oh, I also had a little problem at the breakdown. My pickup decided to conk out on me :\ And I did play the rhythm guitar there for anyone who's wondering, I just played it into my loopstaion prior to recording the video.

Here is Patterns in the Ivy by Opeth on guitar for easy:

And here is Lights of Heaven by Joe Satriani on guitar and bass for intermediate:

Unfortunately I had to back out of Castle Dragon. I did a few takes and although I had the bulk of the song down there are a few runs that are just too difficult for me to learn cleanly in 20 days.

uhhhh.... You kinda messed up the links for the Easy Guitars section lol :P

So he did He also put down my guitar cover in the bass section.

Anywho, I'm about to do my drums. Don't know how well my phone camera is going to pick this up though. The other camera's out of battery :\

Be careful copying the link, since I know you've had problems with that in the past.

Not bad for an instrument I've only been playing for about 2 weeks. Also, it's not fun playing wind instruments when you can't breathe through your nose.

Also, since there aren't ever enough entries for "other" or "keyboards" why not combine the two into one "other" category?
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

Fuck sake. The app on my phone that I used to record my drum cover has messed up. I'm going to have to go and do it again, and I'm absolutely shattered -_-

By the way theogonia, that recording made me smile

Here is the "original" version for reference.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yDrtNEr_5M

I had (to try) to play it up in G though, since that's what the ocarina I was using is tuned to, and It wouldn't fit in any other key into it's range (other than F, which would be awful to finger).

Guitars, Easy = https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1534877
Guitars, Intermediate = https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1534876

I'll have to apologize for not putting in my entry. Recently, my parents went out of country for one month and left the entire family business in my hands so I was kinda busy.

@whoomit, would you like to carry on your current drum entry to the next month or would you do another cover?

Cheers guys.
#64
If we have months like this where there are only two or three categories with only two or three entries each and a couple of categories with only one entry each, it would really be better to just combine all the entries regardless of instrument or difficulty.

I've been thinking, and in my opinion the best way to do the categories are:

Guitar easy
Guitar intermediate
Guitar advanced
Other

Currently we have the 3 guitar categories, 3 bass categories, 1 drum, 1 keys, 1 vocals and 1 other.

For bass/keys/drum/vocals/other we normally get maybe 4 submissions total, so I think they should all be bunched into 1.

Actually squeezing the 3 guitar categories down to 2 may be an idea.

Just some stuff to think about.

Combine easy and intermediate I'd say.

This, sometimes it's hard to distinguish between easy and intermediate (and it's also hard to distinguish intermediate and advanced), I say they should be combined.

I'm going to have to drop out this time, I've got a lot a crap at school to deal with, I won't have time for this between a huge book assignment and a research paper, neither of which I've really started on. I think this is the first time I've really had to drop out.
