Marshalls facebook page has just posted that Jim Marshall has died. Although i'm not the biggest fan of modern marshall he brought out some amazing amps.
RIP
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved founder and leader for the past 50 years, Jim Marshall. While mourning the Guv’nor though, we also salute a legendary man who led a full and truly remarkable life. Jim’s ascent into the history books as ‘the Father of Loud’ and the man responsible for ‘the Sound of Rock’ is a true rags-to-riches tale. Cruelly robbed of his youth by tubercular bones, Jim rose to become one of the four forefathers responsible for creating the tools that allowed rock guitar as we know and love it today to be born. The ground breaking quartet also included the late, great trio of Leo Fender, Les Paul and Seth Lover – together with Jim, they truly are the cornerstones of all things rock. In addition to the creation of the amps chosen by countless guitar heroes and game changing bands, Jim was also an incredibly humble and generous man who, over the past several decades, has quietly donated many millions of pounds to worthy causes. While the entire Marshall Amplification family mourns Jim’s passing and will miss him tremendously, we all feel richer for having known him and are happy in the knowledge that he is now in a much better place which has just got a whole lot louder! Rest in Peace & thank you Jim. Your memory; the music and joy your amps have brought to countless millions for the past five decades; and that world-famous, omnipresent script logo that proudly bears your name will always live on. An online condolences site will be available shortly which we welcome you to leave your messages on. An announcement will be made when this will be accessible.

No.

Well, technically it could be done, but only in the same way that you could change a cat into a hamburger. It's an unpleasant process, and nobody is happy with the result.

Great man.

Oh f*ck it,
I'm gonna have a party.
I had the blankest year,
I watched life turn into a TV show.
It was totally weird.

I've never been a huge Marshall fan, especially thier newer stuff, but that's just my opinion. Obviously, ignoring my preferences, enough people use Marshalls to suggest that they got something right in a lot of peoples eyes. I've got to respect them as a company for what they've achieved, and what they've given us musicians. RIP Jim Marshall.
I deeply regret the 6661 in my username. Siiiigh. Damn you, 14 year old me, you edgy little bastard.

It's decent legacy to leave behind, at least. Kinda curious as to what causes he donated to.

Sad day in Rock N' Roll History. RIP Father Of Tone!!

I'mma catch flack for this, GOD AM I GONNA!
BUT HERE GOES:

NO NO NO NO! GOD NO! Tone? WTF U mad (read: insane) braH?

Father of tone?
Whoever invented the plethra of other amps outside of this overrated pos company... amps like orange/fender/high-watt/etc...

ignorance? Maybe! But still, Most if not all Marshal stacks suck.. it's why noone today or in too many bands had them for recording or live... yea you saw the stacks on stage, but they were dummies for the most part.

Ducks the incoming barrage of rotten fruit/veggies, and other assorted items while running out the back (of) stage door!

Though, I give props to marshal for coming up with the largest amp company that managed to fake their way into popularity!

Mine wasn't a troll. Total and completely real, and the way I feel .

Then you can get out of this thread

shite

I hope you're trolling, but countless legendary rock groups from the last 50 years have relied on "that tone", with a common consensus of "it just has to be a Marshall." You can hardly overestimate how widely used his amps were.

It's when you play it through a pipe and stuff slippers in the cab.
