There was this good tubescreamer emulator VST I used when I was still running windows for my recording, I assume that would do the job for vocals as well. If I can remember the name I'll post it here.

You want a Saturator, not an Overdrive. Honestly, unless the vocalist sucks, you don't need either. I use Waves RVox to saturate the vocals a bit, just to add some warmth and fill them out, but if you have to use it, then your vocalist needs to work on his technique more.
