So for the longest time, even until now most of my rhythm playing has revolved around power chords, and barre chords. I rarely ever used open chords (though i do know the basics of it) and as I start to consider myself as a pretty decent guitar player I felt the need to learn some more about rhythm playing in order to gain a more flexible sound and availability to my future playing.

I want to start off by asking a question about a part of this song:

at around 0:19 seconds he will go into a quick seven chord progression and was wondering what those chords were (and/or rather what they should be referred to as) it seems like a barre chord into an open D shape, and I can't tell the rest.

If someone could assist me in finding how what the progression there is, I would appreciate it.

Lastly, I am looking into other ways I could make my rhythm playing more interesting. If there are any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you.
