So I've shelled out a bunch of cash for my gigging rig, and my band practices at the drummers house a few times a week. My rig is pretty heavy, and pretty hard to transport, so I usually leave it at the drummers house. Here lately, the old bass player keeps going into the jam room and plugging up to my stuff, I've repeatedly told him not to, I'm gonna kick his ass.

Anyways. I keep coming to practice to find my gear has been tampered with, I was thinking I can't be the only person to have this type of problem, is there some kind of product on the market that I can lock the input jack with?

I realize that I can just take all my cables, but then I risk him just using his own cables, and the last thing I want is some idiot plugging an instrument cable into the speaker jacks. Ideas or product suggestions would be great!

do you have actives?

remove the battery, and pretend he broke the guitar, the next time
you play. make it a huge deal and pretend that it cost you $200
at the tech.

if you dont want him using the amp, take the power cable.

Clearly lasers are the only real solution here.

I'm liking the idea of taking the power cable.
Also taking out the battery next time and saying it's gonna be 200 dollars in repairs, if you have active pickups.

....why dont you just take the amp and leave all the cables and stuff?

The only real answer to the SG vs Les Paul debate is to get a Flying V and laugh at all the suckers who don't have one.

hmmmmm...... taking all your stuff home with you would solve the problem. who cares if its heavy, my complete practice/gigging rig is heavy as sin and i transport it to and from practice every time we get together FOR THIS REASON SPECIFICALLY! im not trying to sound like a dick but if u dont want people to mess with your shizz, dont give them the opportunity.

Take the fuses out of your amps. A power cable is easily replaced with one of his, probably. He probably won't think to check the fuses.
Feel free to call me Kyle.

What Would Jeremiah Do?

Seriously, TS, that's ****ing bullshit. I used to play with a guitarist that would always turn my mids down, before practice, and make me sound like poop, simply because he didn't know how to EQ his amp.

The dude has a Crate GX-130. Gain knob was 100%, shape control alllll the way to the right.

It was horrid and he had no cut. I wonder why?

So one day I stole his car. He never touched my mids knob again.

Yeah. Take out your amp's fuse, assuming you use an amp with an external fuse socket.

Word. Then when he goes to play, and it won't turn on, he'll freak out. Next time you show up and it's no longer working, proceed to freak the **** out on him and say it's gonna cost a fortune to fix the problem.

Thanks guys, didn't think about the fuse. I always take my bass, and all of my cables. As far as transporting the amp, it's just to much effort. Here lately ive just been taking the head and leaving the cab. I'll see if I can remove the fuse on my Peavey head - but really I didn't think some kind of locking mechanism for a jack isn't such a far fetched idea.
