Hey I'm Currently learning Downfall by Children Of Bodom and on the first verse all the chords used are like:

D-----------------------------------|
A-----------------------------------|
F--10--10--10--10--10--10--|
C-----------------------------------|
G--8---8---8---8---8---8--8---|
D-----------------------------------|

When i try to mute the C it just sounds like shit, What technique do you use to do it?

Thanks

Index finger on the 8th fret of the G string, mutes the C, F, A and D strings (however since you have a note fretted on the 10th fret of the F string it'll still sound). Look at Freepower's muting video in the sticky.

Typically fingered as
3
x
1

or

4
x
1

With x being the 4th string, muted by the pad of your index finger.

I used the tip of my index finger to mute the low c, and then lay my index finger along the other c so it doesnt ring out then i use the remaining fingers to mute the other strings and i can just full out strum them and all i get is the octave chord, hope this helps
