So today (April 15th) is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Thoughts?
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

Since no one's posting, i'll break the ice here.

The film was just too wet for my tastes and, I hate to sound cold, but that's the only reason people still talk about the event.
#6
I don't really have any thoughts on the matter. It was a horrible incident, but you know, it was a hundred years ago now...
#8
Sick of it, seriously if I hear anything more about it I will crack and straight up murder someone. (I live in Belfast and because it's apparently the only notable thing to ever come from here they're really milking it for all it's worth...)

The least amount of people on the Titanic died in second class.

My great grandad could have went on the Titanic but he was turned down at the health inspection thing because he didn't have all the vaccinations.

The sinking of the Titanic is really only so famous because of James Cameron.
I mean, MAYBE it was because they called it 'unsinkable', but there are tons of other ship/ other vehicle disasters that killed over a thousand people.

I think it was 36525 days ago. Leap years and all.

its annoying me too - you can tell it is being milked for all the worth by tv drama - docs - news. it was a tragedy, a disaster, and so many died. its something they need to leave to rest now, celebrate the memory of the lives and the spirit of the ship in more personal discreet and more private ways. it seems to be all about the money - and thats not at all right

I'm sick of hearing about it.
For the past week or so it's been the only thing on the news plus tons of relating documentaries and dramas on tv.

I'm assuming this is trolling.

Anyway, kinda surprised Google don't have an image for it. I love those Google sketches.

I didn't intend to be trolling.
I'm not the most educated on the subject, but like I said, as far as I'm aware it's not a completely unique tragedy; other than possibly the fact that they claimed it was unsinkable. To my knowledge only around 1,500 died. There have been several other disasters that killed more than that.

To be honest, he's right. I mean, loads of ships have gone down with roughly the same or more hands that Titanic did. Heard of the Doña Paz? 1987 it collided with an oil tanker: 4341 dead.

And the 'Tek Sing', a Chinese ship that sunk in 1822, killing over 1600 people.
People called it the Titanic of the East.
