Any bands like Closure In Moscow or The Fall of Troy that play in D Standard, or Drop C?

Pantera played some of their stuff in d standard like walk and some of the songs from Far Beyond Driven. System Of A Downs three first albums are all in Drop C from their self titled to Steal This Album.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Black guitar, white ones are almost as good but black ones are better, white ones just don't sound quite as good.

Tool

Tool play in Drop D bro. Would be a little difficult with the scale shapes Adam Jones uses.

Gojira plays some wicked rhythm on "From Mars to Sirius" in D and "The Way of All Flesh" in Drop C. Check out the songs "Toxic Garbage Island" or "Flying Whales".

Black Tara :-p

We play in D standard. It just seems to give us a bit more oomph for heavier bits but keeps things sounding nice for cleaner parts/chords :-)

If anyone would be interested in hearing some of our stuff, we've just got a website up, can happily provide a link...don't wanna just fire it up here and cram it down your throats lol.

I'm pretty sure most (if not the whole) of Swallow The Sun's first album is in Drop C. I think most of that album is written in C minor. Some of their other work might be too.

Symphony X's Paradise Lost and Set The World on Fire are in D Standard. Again, I'd imagine some of their other work is too.

I'm fairly certain QotSA use d standard on a couple of songs. They sort of play around with tunings. If you're thinking of using it and the tuning sounds good for the song, then go for it. There's no hard and fast rule saying you MUST use this tuning all the time on every song.

^^ Qotsa use C Standard and E Standard tunings mostly.

Fu Manchu and The Atomic Bitchwax both use D Standard.

Um.....I'm not a metal guy by any means but I think I know just enough about the genre to know that Nickelback and Seether do not fit the bill. Hard Rock....sure but metal?

Assuming Metal bands play in D standard is gross stereotype. There are many that play in mostly standard (e.g. Dream Theater) some that play in Drop D or other D based tunings (e.g. Muse's heavier music) and bands that play in tunings mostly below D (e.g. Swallow The Sun, Animals as Leaders).

I'm not sure about Dream Theater's newer stuff but Images & Words is all E standard I think.

Nightwish. Everything since Century Child has been in D.
