Ok, I think it's time I posted something relative to another game. A necron army list.

2x Necron Overlords in chariots with Warscythes
Court of 4 necron lords with Rez orbs and mindscarabs
4x Units of 10 necron warriors with Night Scythes as transports
2 Doom scythes

That's 2000 points btw.

As a fantasy player, I find 40k lists bizarre, I always want to ask where the infantry is! A 2,500 point list for my skaven includes in the region of 225 models!

Thing is fifth edition favored transports a lot. Fantasy doesn't have em, and 6th edition 40k favours flyers a LOT, that's why I'm spamming them in that list. The infantry is just there to be dropped and hold a point (Necron warriors + One lord on each unit can hold their own damn well). Night scythes shoot at S7 Assault 4 (Four shots), and the doom scythes trace a line and hit everything underneath it for S9 or 10 (Can't quite recall). The overlords can fly over units and hit them three times with S7, 2d6 for armour penetration and can charge after that (1d6 strength 6 hits at initiative 10, and then 4 attacks at S7 ignoring armour at initiative 2). I think it's pretty good, considering most of it is almost inmune to ranged.

And seriously, you're playing SKAVEN.

Here's a Warhammer fantasy list that I tried in a tourney:

General, Strigoi lord with +2AT sword, Ward save of 4+, blood fury and black knight (+2WS must issue challenge and accept them)

Standard Bearer, Vampire with Banner of Screams (Enemy must roll 3d6 in fear checks) and incarnation of fear + Aura of dark majesty (Reroll succesful fear checks+ -1 to leadership).

3 necromancers with Vampires tome

5 Wraith heroes

One unit of 49 Ghouls with their champion included

4 units of 20 zombies

6 Vargheists, champion included

2 Mortis engines, one with the blasphemous tome upgrade

10 Hexwraiths

5 Vampire bats.

The lord goes in the ghoul unit, flanked (Or followed) by mortis engines. One necromancer per zombie unit without a hero. All five Wraiths go in the front rank of one of the zombie units and the banner bearer goes in the second rank. When they get in melee, if the enemy has no magical weapons you're gonna tear through him (Not to mention terror checks at 3d6, -1 leadership and repeating succesful checks). Hexwraiths, Vargheists and Vampire bat are there for cannon murdering and support wars (If teclis pops up, it's Vargheist time).

I hate teclis. Have I mentioned I hate teclis?

How's the new empire book? Haven't had a chance to read through it yet. I heard rumours about either chaos or wood elves getting rewritten. I only have a few Vamp miniatures myself, I usually borrow mine from a friend. My SPEHSS MEHRINE 40k army is rather extensive though.

It's pretty good. Seems to be focussing a lot more on getting the army to work as a coherent whole as opposed to "CANNONS! CANNONS! STEAM TANK! CANNONS!", but I've not played a game with it yet, so that's only based on leafing through the book.

According to the regular rumour mongers over at Warseer.com, WoC are next in line for a book - aspparently around September/October time, with WE, Bretonnia, and Dwarves being rumoured for next year sometime.

Oh, and everyone hates Teclis. But rather Teclis than the 3++ Chosenstar or an OK army with Ironblasters and Mournfangs everywhere up in this bitch!

I guess it depends how much ranged assault you have. You can whittle Teclis away with shooting, and if you make it into CC before he's gone, providing you've got enough of a unit to weather the ASF assault of his unit, he's going down.

Playing a game of keep away with the Chosenstar is boring as shit. It usually takes up such a huge chunk of the army points as well, making it difficult to gain enough VPs for a win in my experience.

2 d8 + 7 each turn. So glad he couldn't cleave! We ended up defeating it using smoke arrows (50/50 to hit) and our drunken dwarf barbarian's rage power attack and the rogue's sneak attack.

Ok, to summarize that dungeon. The party was looking at a large portcullis, which the ranger detected was rigged to make the dungeon turn into 'Rock falls, everyone dies' as soon as it opened. He botched the disarm roll.

On the other side of the portcullis the party saw 3 paths and decided to split up and run in pairs in two different directions. Ranger and Wizard went, Cleric and Wilder went bottom. At the top, the ranger and the wizard were puzzled as they saw a chest in a completely empty room. A quick scan revealed it was OBVIOUSLY trapped. They spent ages pondering what it meant before the rumbling dungeon got truly ominous, and then the ranger opened the chest. The trap sliced a piece of his finger off and teleported it somewhere.

Meanwhile, the cleric and the wilder came across a maze of refracting crystals which blasted lasers everywhere as soon as you entered the room. Much lulz were had as the two least agile characters in the party ran screaming through the beams of light.

I honestly cackled in silence when you guys panicked at those first two rooms.

Next up was a magnetic room for the Ranger and the Wizard, which was avoided with a gravity elemental counteracting the magnetism. The Cleric and the poor Wilder, on the other hand, encountered a feast frozen in time. Three catatonic old men sitting in a table, plus what appeared to be a viking skeleton. Truth is, the door was below the table, the lock was in the throne the skeleton was sitting in and the key was in its eyepatch. You know what else was in the eyepatch? A dart. So the wilder tried to tickle one of the old men and he got stuck into the catatonism too, the cleric dispelled the effect and accidentally killed the poor old guy. Then he got really frustrated and blasted the skull with lightning. And a bone splinter blew his eye up.

The Ranger and the wizard had to run through a PET SEMATARY trapped to spring skeletons that gave you negative levels, down to a mausoleum where they met up with the rest of the party. The only way out of the dungeon was to give a statue of a demon enough blood to fill its mouth (A full human's worth). The plan was for them to try to kill each other, but they just dragged the dead guy from the feast and bled him up in it. And that was the end of the dungeon.

I thoroughly enjoyed ****ing with you guys.

Hey, I'm not that slow.

How fast is James? He only took one level in Monk, didn't he? So he didn't get the speed bonus, right?

Did that sneaky little bastard take some feat I don't know about?

Also, once I take a couple of levels in Elocater, I'll be the fastest in the party, period.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. I only moved 30 feet per turn because I didn't realize I could hustle or run. 30 feet is just my base speed.
