Hey guys. I thought I would start a discussion on some of the best bands you know that most other people haven't ever heard of before. I'm not talking about underrated bands, we get enough arguments about that already . I'm more talking about bands from countries other than your native one that others may not have heard before. I'll start:

Leander Rising:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unIK-1uWyrU&feature=relmfu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk_p8Ig6N14&feature=relmfu

These guys are a group out of Hungary and just released their first full album.

Give 'em a listen and post some bands that you guys think need to be heard.

Okay, so not unknown. But way underrated IMO. If they'd come out 25 years earlier they'd probably be huge.

Cheesy in the best possible way.

I'm liking the song you linked dude. They definitely would've fit in 25 years ago.

Guarantee this is more obscure:

Hell, I can't even find 'em on YouTube and it looks like they only got 3 songs.

Dude, who the hell's not heard of Dirty Loops?

Too many people. And any is too many.

Seriously though, I've only known a few people.

Okay, changing my answer to Magnetic Ear. Killer horn band. Look at them cover "In Bloom"

I don't know the any of the bands that I've never heard of. That's how having never heard of something before works.

Go to the Forced Listening Thread. Your thread (nice idea btw) is pretty much the same as that thread.

Just checked out that thread. It's similar but I didn't want this one to be one person rating the others' choices. It's more just awareness for newer or relatively unknown bands.

OT: I forgot to mention a Mexican band named Agora:

Six Gallery, some really catchy Post-Rock

This Town Needs Guns like Tera Melos but a bit more gentle and catchy

The Safety Fire extraordinarily talented group of guys coming into the Prog Metal scene

If you like Thrash Metal, click the first link in my sig

I don't think any of those bands have more than 25000 fans on facebook. Is that obscure enough?

Also, Revocation, but I think they're fairly popular. Their brand of metal is awesome but I'm not really sure what you'd call it. The lead guitarist/vocalist is one of the most talented musicians in metal today though, hands down. On the same level of talent as Chris Broderick easily

EDIT: Didn't realize they had to be foreign bands...oh well

Six Gallery is from Athens, OH
This Town Needs Guns is from Oxford
The Safety Fire is from London
Havok is from Denver, CO
Revocation is from Boston, MA

the Gazette from Japan.

They played a one-band sold out show in the Tokyo Dome ( 55,000 people!!!). Huge over there, no one knows them here.

Also, Vains of Jenna from Sweden (they broke up though)

Extremely talented. I thought that they would really make it one day.

I know of them, I saw them play at a Block Party here in El Paso and I think they are actually from here as well!

There are a ton of bands that I know of that I think are under-appreciated or not known too well but here is one for now.

Lift To Experience (If you like the singer check out Josh T. Pearson, amazing musician).

Just heard this last night for the first time. It was late, and I can't decide if it's cool or just weird... or both.

Nah, they don't have to be foreign. I just thought that most bands people hadn't heard of would've been from foreign countries. Not a restriction though

It might also be your time to check out Evile and Warbringer if you haven't yet. Both excellent thrash metal bands.

Evile's good, Warbringers not bad, but kind of meh. SkeletonWitch is better than both.

I'm a huge Evile fan. Warbringer's solos get to be repetitive after a while but the vocals more than make up for it imo

Instrumentally SkeletonWitch is solid but I don't like this type of vocal style
