Hello modern rock forum, welcome to the non-Muse thread! This is where we discuss bands, albums and songs that did not disappoint us. Alternatively, it can also be a place for disillusioned fans of Muse-before-they-decided-to-become-cow-tits to overcome their disappointment together, perhaps through group therapy. And Taylor Swift talk, I expect.

I guess I'll start then. After ages of seeing their name posted around the internet, I finally decided to give Silversun Pickups' latest album a go and I liked it. It didn't disappoint

So I'm guessing the point of this thread is to contain the overflow of irrelevant topics within the Muse thread?

They're quite cute aren't they? Who liked Madness then? I'm looking forward to the new album!

I disapprove. Madness is good. And what are we supposed to talk about in the Muse thread now?

Ripping off Queen and U2 and still only managing to come up with a not-that-bad track? That's pretty bad. If anything it's Muse that is stuck in the past, thinking they can steal like Zeppelin.

I was not disappointed with the new Hives song.

Well, I'm guessing it's best to just let the Muse thread be for a year or 3 until Muse come to their senses and stop trying to be Tenacious D. In the mean time, us Muse thread posters need something to do, don't we?

Yes of course Survival is so poppy with it's heavy riff and guitar solos replacing choruses and Unsustainable is equally poppy with it's lack of any lyrics or any catchy chorus.

Yeah, I don't think they're trying to pander to a mainstream audience at all with Survival or Unsustainable.

She's great on B.o.B's latest single. I gotta get that damn album but so lazy...

Love the Pickups. They be hella sweet. Singer's voice has gotten better with each record. Check out Three Seed.

I recently got Of Monsters and Men's album. Stuff is sweeet.

^One of the major radio stations here always play that Little Talks song. I like it, but I kinda dislike how they play all those semi-indie hits (them, Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard, fun., Will & the People etc) so they can call themselves alternative while still playing top 40 music.

Nowadays its hard to write songs that arent already written... every note/chord combination have been used already.
The only reason why this is being noticed is because it seems like its from Queen, and they admit U2 inspired them after a tour. if it was stolen from an unknown band somewhere in the world, nobody would actually give a f*ck, unless you stole the whole thing like Every Tears a Waterfall - Coldplay

There's always the Oceansize thread, but that's crazy thought!

I'd suggest the Superunknown album. The album before (Badmotorfinger) and after (Down on the Upside) are class too.

All Very good choices. The new silversun Pickups album is really an album that grows on you. You really have to listen to the songs a lot to get it.

On a side note, isn't Chris Cornell the guy that wrote the theme for Casino Royale?

Of course you are, it's Soundgarden! Here's the trailer for the new album, by the way. I don't know about you, but I almost wet my pants over this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkecIBT7hME

Ah, thanks. Unfortunately I don't feel like resurrecting a year-dead thread atm, but nevertheless it's nice to know it's there. Maybe it'll turn active again once British Theatre releases its LP.

I don't really know why I've never gotten into this band, but I'm going to do so now for sure. At least, once I've digested Mogwai, GY!BE and Sigur Ros. Which may take a while...

I love the way that new song comes off as ambient yet melodic at the same time. It's time I gave this band the justice it deserves.

I never give myself the chance to fully digest artists anymore. There's just sooo much stuff out there waiting for me to listen to it! Makes it hard for bands to enter top 5, despite me not even listening to that top 5 on the regular. Oh well, at least I never get bored of stuff anymore.

Thank you for pointing out this band, I'm liking what I'm hearing.

And having started listening to Oceansize a month or so ago, I can finally agree that they're pretty good now that I've finally gotten around to listening to them.

A while back, when at one of their concerts, they joked that they were going to change their site name to citizenerased.com so it's not like they don't know a lot of people prefer the old stuff...

The Terror is the Flaming Lips right? I think I liked it quite alright.

I've started to adopt a more slutty approach to listening to music. Instead of giving a handful of albums several careful listens before deciding if it will stick with me or not, I'll now just randomly click on stuff on Spotify and follow my impulses. I'll listen to a lot of albums and only recall some of their names.

Been listening to Stornoway a lot though, regularly even. Tales From Terra Firma is an excellent album.

Yup. And gd. That's the kinda thing your slutty approach wouldn't benefit from.

But yeah. I think I do something similar. I listened to a Savages song and the bass line was ripped straight from a Joy division tune. I don't get that stuff, if I wanna listen to JD-like stuff, I'll just listen to JD. But meh, spose there's some ground for sampling shit or watev.
