Actually my pedalboard has a power supply in it. I said nothing wrong. Fail for you.

Sorry? Fail for me?

Not sure who everyday is, but you were clearly confused between what a pedalboard and power supply is.

Mayslash: In an effort to stop the shitstorm that is likely unstoppable at this point I will make one serious post, then I will promptly return to laughing my ass off at your expense. Serious post to follow:

You are partially correct in saying that Boss pedals are often inferior to other things offered on the market, but to say that they always are to the point that they shouldn't exist on the market is ridiculous. Many pros use boss for two simple facts; first they are indestructible, and second they can be picked up at almost any music shop in the world. I doubt many pros are using them in studio recording, but for live use they are really ideal.

You also seem to overlook the fact that some of the older Japanese models of Boss pedals are very sought after. Add to that the huge community of people modding Boss pedals into top quality pedals and they become even more viable.

If you were here spouting this nonsense with a pedalboard full of boutique stuff we wouldn't laugh quite as hard... But you're talking a lot of trash about Boss and meanwhile you've got some pretty mediocre stuff on your board.

Basically you're not entirely wrong, but you really show your ignorance by making such a blanket statement when you clearly don't have much experience with what you're speaking of.

Cathbard is probably asleep so here you go: si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses.

Walk into any music shop in the world and pick up a pedal... What is it? Its a Boss. That in and of itself is a 'feature.'

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong here because I've never done research, but isn't the Boss switching system pretty unique? I wish all my pedals had their switch. Its much quieter and easier than a standard 3PDT.

This thread is better than most movies out recently, thanks guys, I'll go back to my hm2 ps3 dd20 vb2 ce2 df2 rv3 bf2 fz2 etc
Boss pedals have been great to me over the years, even with boutique pedals now there's always at least 3 or 4 on my board.

I am also amazed that Boss are still in business, mainly because everything they make seems to be indestructable.

If nothing you make breaks then nobody has any reason to buy a new one
this.. and the best part is there always seem to be some used goodies for sale at GC.

Ive only been playing 3 years or so, and Im more into learning to use the hands and hit the notes then effects pedals, but I have picked up these:
Phlanger - used $30
Acoustic simulator - used $35 (only sounds good w/ single coil)
Distortion/overdrive OS-2 - bought used for $40 - one of my favorite pedals. Being able to mix the OD/distortion strikes me as awesome

I mostly practice through a looper and its nice to play rhythm/lead one with effects and one clean picking up these pedals cheap has been great.

Well the TS certainly is an ass but I will agree that Boss has gone down the shitter. Seriously, the CE-2 was arguably one of the best sounding chorus pedals made. Why is it discontinued?

Seriously, all their shit's digital now with a few exceptions, they've discontinued almost everything decent, and while younger certainly aren't the only Boss users, it seems that's become their target market.

I love old Boss though. Like the CE-2 that I mentioned, plus my old Boss CS-3 compressor. Certainly not the best but usable.

cause boss makes good pedals. I'm personally looking at their power stack multi-distorion pedal (crunch to face melt)

This is all coming from someone who doesn't know the difference between a power supply and a pedalboard.

I'm not saying that I couldn't find a better pedal in every category and price range than the respective Boss, but that does not mean that Boss would suck. It's just, like, my opinion, man. I don't like them myself, but that does not mean that other people wouldn't like them. And I understand why people do like them.

But their loop stations are superior to everything. No one can deny that.
