OOops. got an another amp today.

Ampeg J-12t. 15 watts, 2 - EL84, 2 - 12ax7. tremolo and spring reverb on board.

sick little tone monster.

the guitar i thought i was bidding on a SG-1000.

then i noticed the brass block the bridge mounts to and the neck joint. (it is a neck though model, not a set neck like lower models which are built more similarly to gibsons)

nice...

checked the serial number, appears to be a 1979 SG-2000.

she's pretty much stock other than the trc and the knobs. it's not pictured here but i also have the original case as well. (and all three latches work!) a friend on another forum linked me to some yahoo japan auctions where i can buy the original knobs and trc so i should be able to return it to complete stock form.

ebony fretboards rule.

i hate gold hardware with a passion, but it works on this guitar imo.

my first guitar was a much lower model Yamaha SG and I always had a soft spot for them.

i've had more than a few gibsons over the years, most recently a R0. this guitar holds its own with every gibby i've owned. (opinion sure, but one that has experience with old and new gibsons of varying models)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Osljl85z9Yo&feature=plcp
i used a samsung galaxy S3 and a vox da5 amp. lol, going super high tech ftw!

anyway, enjoy the NGD. I also have other stuff to post in here so it belongs in GG&A and not EG, but I only have access to the guitar atm.

oh yeah, i also made a trade for this thing, but i don't know if i'm keeping it.

it's pretty so here's a pic.

plus i got an amp, it's an old tube marshall combo from the 80's with 6v6s, a headphone jack, vintage 30 speaker, built in attenuator bla bla bla.

amp!

marshall studio 15, model 4001. badass at 1 watt or 15, take your pick.

i hate the marshall logo and so did the guy i bought it off of. i have the original grill for it but i'm ok with the one he installed.

oh, i also got more vintage mojo here. bought a cheap $50 acoustic and found this in the case. seems to go with the vintage mojo theme. o_0

i agree with you regarding gold hardware. I don't normally like it, but it looks awesome on that (and les paul customs).

Nice prs too

i mostly made good trades or buy low/sell high.

like the yamaha, it was listed as a SG1000 and i realized he didn't know what he had.

all is fair in love and ebay.

wow, that combo is pretty plain-jane for a marshall with those kinda options...

and i just read that less than 500 were built. damn. my EA-300 RVT has at least a 1000 copies out there and that is the rarest thing i own. 500, super rare. shame it doesn't have original speaker, and i wonder who they used to supply the 6V6's?

It is the original speaker.

It was the first marshall to have a stock vintage 30.

Srsly its a sick amp. Balanced and unbalanced direct outputs. You can unplug the speaker with the amp on, says so right in the manual.

Stupidly awesome amp.

hmm, i read wrong, must have been looking at a different amp's specs. so let me restate: shame it comes with a V30 as a stock speaker

does it still have stock tubes, and if so, what brand? i am interested.

yea yea yea, i'm kinda with you there. thinking of putting a WGS ET65 in it.

it came (to me) with a set of tung sol 6v6s in it, and a pair of EH 6v6s in a box as spares. both sets said made in russia on 'em.

so i did the most self respecting thing a man can do.

shoved a pair of JJs in thar.

def sounded better with JJs. warmer, thicker sounding. i'm still playing with pre-amp tubes, i've got a nice collection of oddballs. don't even know what's in there right now as far as those go.

like the JJ 6V6's. win win.

i am sure you will keep the V30 for posterity sake right?

why not go super british, do a greenback, blue dog, weber legacy, something like that? ET-65 would be pretty era specific though and probably more versatile (i have only played the G12-50 precursors).

i actually have a jcm800 112 cab with an old V30 in it as well. so i'm kinda V30 overloaded at this point. the G1265 is common to this era and was the original speaker in that jcm800 112 cab. putting a ET65 it is sort of brings it back to semi stock condition and i could just run the cab with the studio 15. kinda talking myself into it. i do like greenbacks as well though.

1 - i had the camera (phone) resting against my leg on the couch with the amp next to me. so when i got a rockin' so did it.
2 - no my old one wasn't in this good of shape. i had changed the grill on that one but to a salt/pepper with gold flecks. this is the stock type so it's period correct.
3 - old ace straps are authentic mojo!

Nice. A mate has one of those Yamaha's. It's awesome. Heavy as hell though :/ HNGD

and from what i'm reading this model is renown for being on the heavier side of the Yammys.

so i stopped by a post office on my way to the g/f's place last night and had them weigh the guitar. (they know me there from shipping guitars/amps/pedlulz etc).

9 lbs 11 oz.

my R0 was 9 lbs on the money, so this isn't as bad as it could have been i guess.

nice strap

yeah i'm not too fussed on v30s on their own (though there are far worse speakers, too, and maybe it suits the marshall, i haven't tried it )
