We aren't getting any younger. Already people my age find it bizarre that people a few years younger than us will not know what a floppy disc is. We will experience younger generations not knowing a single thing about many things of our time.

That got me thinking: What have we ourselves missed out on?

What thing/event from previous generations, that you never had a chance to experience, do you wish we had now?
Or, what things that have now disappeared do you wish we still had around/more of?

I wish we had milk delivered to our doorsteps still because that'd be awesome.

I also wish we had more jukeboxes in public areas. I know of three (now two, since the one place closed down this year) that have juke boxes. Why not more? They're great. I wish it was like how it once was, where juke boxes were as common as insects and were all over the place.

You're back

I would love the whole milk on the doorstep thing. I don't know what else there is, it might come to me eventually.

Milk floats used to deliver to a few houses on my street not even a few years back, I think they still do.

It wasn't that great. In the summer, the sparrows got to it before you did, and in the winter, it froze before you could bring it in.

OT, though, girls who will sleep with me. I never see any these days.

Yeah, I remember seeing the milk float driving around town and delivering stuff to people's doorsteps not too long ago as well. No sparrows either.

The building of things like the Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids. Of course I wouldn't want to actually live my whole life during that time because there's just so many things available today that I could take for granted.

I remember those days well.
Those were better days.

What I wish I could have experienced?

Woodstock (I was only 9 at the time and my dad called The Beatles "Acid Rock", and that was based solely on their first Album).

The exploration of the South Americas in the 15th century. Must've been pretty cool exploring along the Amazonas river, finding new people, environments, foods, animals, plants etc. for the first time. I've read a lot about it since it's tied to the project I'm in, some of the descriptions of the places along the amazonas river are, to say the least, insane.

In keeping with the milk theme, being at school in the fifties when everyday they would give all the kids at school a pint of milk to drink everyday.

The Roman Empire and young Helen Mirren.

But to be honest, Helen Mirren would probably still - and very shamelessly, may I add - get it. She's the hottest old chick I know of.
Led Zeppelin, GnR, Hendrix, Stones etc...

End of WWII. I think that would have been an amazing thing. The sheer amount of joy but also the grief. It'd be an interesting thing.

Wtf, I get milk, orange juice, and eggs delivered to my door every morning.

I wanna be back in days where the above didn't happen!
Friends, applaud the comedy is over.

Gaming arcades! I was born in 90 so by the time I was ten they were all gone (in Australia) about that time. I can't explain why I want to go to them, I probably wouldn't even spend money on the machines/games, but a sense of comradery is established in my heart when you're around your friends with seemingly limitless possibilities of fun whether its Daytona, Basketball or Bumper cars.

Just imagine excite when Mortal Kombat hit the arcades. Damn that would have been fun.

Listening to vinyls. I know you can do that know but with the advent of MP3's and computer we hardly ever just dedicate time to actually go and listen to music alone and away from distractions. That and vinyls sound awesome, sitting there listening to a CD or MP3 just doesn't hold the same magic as a good old record does for me.

Not really old stuff but eh.
