Yes, I realized that. :-) I wouldn't be running one cab in series though, because, if I had to rewire my cab, it would be for the sole purpose that I can use them both at the same time. :-)

^ yep, that's true. there'd be no point in wiring your 2x12 in series because that'd make it 32 ohms. and no point in wiring the 4x12 in series either because that wouldn't make it 8 ohms.

Sorry for overcomplicating things As one of the regulars here said recently (was it arby? I think it might have been, but i forget), we have a bit of habit of having people come in asking what time it is and we're not happy until they can build a clock

Well the point dave was making was that if you had one cab and it was wired in series then 1 speaker blowing would make it where there was no load on the amp.

yep, exactly. Like christmas tree lights- if one bulb blows, the other 20 don't light up.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I can appreciate it. Better than to have it the other way around, that I'd have to figure it out by myself. =P

I haven't received an answer to my question about the impedance of the Orange cab, so no extra information there.

Also, my christmas tree lights have some bulbs that don't work, while the rest is fine.

Thats cause its in series/parallel. A strip of like 10 or 20 is in series, and the whole strip is compose of like 10 or 20 or those strips in parallel. So when a bulb goes out you just have 10 or 20 bulbs that are off and only have to test through those 10 or 20 to see which is bad.

I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

^ ah ok. i know we've had ones where if one bulb blew, they all went.

and yeah there's very little we/you can do until you know the impedance of the 4x12.
