My Epi LP is on it's last legs, and rather than get it repaired, I've decided to get a new guitar. These are the two on my mind:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/schecter_sgr_by_schecter_c_1_black_lh.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/esp_ltd_m_50_bks_lh.htm

I've read reviews of the LTD, and it seems good for what I need, but I can't find a review of the Schecter anywhere, but it's specs are good (for a low end guitar).

I play a lot of metal, from Black Sabbath to Amon Amarth, I use a Peavey Vypyr 15 with no pedals (I'm thinking of upgrading to a 6505), I also play some prog metal.

I live in Newcastle, England and have no problem with buying used.

My budget is £200, but I could push it a bit.

I don't live in Newcastle, but it's my closest city :/

I'm torn between a 6505 and a POD HD500, but will probably get the 6505, and yes, how did you know?

Probably. I'd sell it if I really needed the money though.

in what way is your LP on its last legs?

the reason I ask is that neither of those guitars you listed is going to be any better (in fact, that LTD would be a significant downgrade!). depending on what work needs to be done, you are most likely going to be better off with the LP.

on the note of amps, keep your vypyr (which has a headphone jack) and use it when volume is an issue. then, buy the 6505 and have a really good sounding gig-worthy amp as well.

There's a crack on the back which I had glued closed a few months ago, which has started to open up again. Guy in the shop said I might as well not get it fixed again since it'll just keep opening up.

I'm not really looking for an upgrade, I just need a guitar.

crack on the back where?

also, there's no sense at all in downgrading. as much as you may just want a guitar right now, you'll seriously regret getting a guitar that is significantly worse that what you have right now.

Neck/headstock joint.

I won't get that LTD then, what other guitars would you recommend?

I would consider a higher end LTD (EC 401), a PRS SE, another epiphone LP (if you want), a fender blacktop. really, if you are able to save up another 150 GBP, you can get a very good guitar (the issue with a 200 GBP budget is that everything in that budget is pretty well the same level of junk).

if you can, try and save up for a couple months and buy something a bit better. also, check out your local used classifieds, as there may be some good deals there too.
