Like on a scale of "ABC's" to "Just Kill Me Now" how hard is this game.

Basically it feels like you're a 15 year old girl getting anally raped by a well endowed black man.

serious sam hd games on mental. good luck killing all the literally invisible enemies. i've only gotten 3/4 of the way through the first one on mental

oh yeah also try AI wars. its an rts, but probably the largest one ever built. like there will be literally tens of thousand of enemies of all sizes fighting across multiple galaxies that you have to control in real time.

It's a game I highly recommend the tutorial, but even then you won't learn much about the techniques in the battles. Most of my friends almost rage quitted on the first boss.

Also, Mega Man X is overall a much easier series than the main Mega Man series.

this. Get some of the megaman games for NES
Are You a PROG-HEAD? I am.

Why not Zoidberg?

Megaman x isn't hard, I beat that shit when I was like 7. The original splatterhouse is a pain though.

NES emulator, Mega Man 1-6. Might skip the first one - it has some awkwardness that MM2 smooths over considerably.

This. The first Mega Man games were absolutely cruel.

EDIT: Condemned 1 on the hardest difficulty. **** that.

This.

Mega Man X is hard, but it's not nearly as hard as the NES series. MM2 is my favorite, but honestly I don't find it as challenging as 3 or 4.

I always found Ghosts and Goblins harder than super Ghouls and Ghosts...also Life force was a pretty rage worthy game. I've been playing Battletoads on my NES for 16 years and it still makes me rage >
I don't really enjoy games that were made with the sole intention of being near impossible so IWBTG and the such is just meh

This. A game's difficulty should be hard, but fair. If you die, it was your fault, not the game's.

Mega Man is perfect because it does a good job introducing things at a fair pace and not all at once, and you're allowed to make a few mistakes here and there (unlike IWBTG). Every enemy/boss has a pattern and strategy, and there are never any surprises that you're unable to handle right away.

**** it, just watch this video. He basically says all I have to say and better.

7th Saga and the NES Castlevania, Simon's Quest.

If you can make it through Simon's Quest without killing a human being, pulling all your hair out or breaking something I'll be real impressed.

I love Egoraptor! That video is actually what made me want to play MegaMan X in the first place, and eventually led to this thread. So far I have only beaten two of the bosses.

Also to all the people saying "Play MegaMan 1-6, and not X" I am going to ease into 1-6. X is pretty difficult right now so I think I need a warm up before going into the others.

So far I have:

1. Mega Man X
That reminds me, I have yet to beat it. I started it but with school and everything I haven't played in a month.
Quote by toBetheVeryBest
4. Super Mario: Lost Levels
Beat it a few times

EDIT: Egoraptor is the fucking boss.
You are now using UG Black.
You are now using UG Classic.

Not really.

Maybe you could about N, because you can predict how the enemies in the game will behave.
But SMB requires alot of precision and speed, which IWBTG doesn't really require you to do. IWBTG is more about dying a few times and finding out the arbitrary sequence of events that were killing you.

I just don't think there's that much 'skill' involved in the game in comparisson to some other stuff mentioned here.

I'm not advocating the bullshit that IWTBTG, I think relying too much on precision and speed platforming results in more cheap deaths. I hate knowing what I need to do, but the game telling me no you're doing it within the exact moment I'm telling you too, so **** off. I play Super Mario World on my DS every now and then, and I've been stuck on the ****ing boss in the 3rd area for 2 years not because I don't know how to get past it, but because it's deep fried bullshit on shitty, gluten-free toast.
I feel like the Mega Man games, especially in the X series, are better about demanding a certain level of skill, but not to the point where if you don't jump in this moment from this spot dead mother ****er.

like 50% of the NES game library.

And I'm not talking about the ones everyone knows. I'm talking about the horribly unplayable ones that the AVGN reviewed and showed how horribly flawed and controller snapping frustrating they where.

Try beating Castlevania. You'll see an 8-bit rendition of the Grim Reaper in your nightmares.

Like someone said earlier the early Castlevanias are pretty crazy hard and fun too.

Oh, God, how could I forget?

Castlevania III is insanity. It also has the best NES music ever. Period.

Although the Japanese version had a special chip in it called the VRC6 that gave it more polyphony and more waveforms to work with, so the overall sound of the Japanese version is considerably more lush.

But the other version is really great, too.

I beat Super Mario World when I was like 11, when it got rereleased as Super Mario Advance 2 (which I'm guessing is what you're playing?).

It felt really good to finally beat Bowser. But fuck, it took so many tries. Seriously, I spent like an entire afternoon trying to beat him.

I agree that Mega Man X is challenging without being cheap, though. But regular Mega Man? Fuck no, that game is cheaper than an SNK boss. The later games are easier, though. But the first 3 are among the hardest games ever made. Shit, they have an easy mode in Mega Man 2, something they've never done since.

A truly underestimated situation: you have no fighting type Pokemon in your party, and your opponent is a high-leveled Chansey that knows Softboiled, Minimize, Defense Curl and Egg Bomb. And Egg Bomb does fuck all damage to you, so it keeps using Minimize and Defense Curl.

Once you eventually succeed in landing a hit on that sonofabitch, it loses like 10HP health. After 10 minutes of straight hitting, you finally get it down to red health. And the fucking asshole uses Softboiled.

Motherfucking Chansey I hate you

Monster Hunter! Probably my favorite video game series.
