I've been playing for like 2 years now and don't feel like I've made much progress. I can play all basic chords and some barre chords but its like I'm stuck and I'm not progressing. I've no idea what to do next. Ultimately I want to play in a band one day. What would you reccomend I learn to start progressing efficiently?

Start learning the songs you want to be able to play. If you find you're having trouble then practice that section. If you need guidelines for practice techniques then there's the stickies and Freepower's videos, all of which have very good content.

You could be in a band now if you found a band playing the right kind of music, I would recommend jamming with a friend if you can find someone willing. Especially if they're better than you, you can improve a lot by being around musicians who know things you don't.

If you want a more specific answer you'll have to ask a more specific question, this is about as good as it gets from what you've said.

Try learning more technical or progressive songs, not saying to go learn the whole Megadeth back catalogue, but songs that take more skill and have more technique to them. For the most part it's all about practicing new methods and applying them.

It depends on what kind of music you like, but if you only know chords, you could start learning riffs. Completely different skill. I think I learned the crazy train riff in 8th grade or something, stuff like that isn't bad. Actually I think all riffs are pretty easy.

Clearly you haven't learned enough riffs

Find some lead riffs/licks/melodies you like in whatever genre/songs you prefer then try to learn them using tabs or youtube videos if available. That's just my 2 cents.
