So, the new season has started on Dave, and personally I think it's awesome.

Since we have a Dr.Who thread I thought that the Dwarf deserves a thread too.

I know I can't be the only SmegHead on here:

Seen a few episodes. I don't get the plot. What is this, and when is it from?

I love classic Dwarf. Not sure about the recent efforts though.

The show originally ran between '88 and '99. It's basically about a Mining Ship stranded thousands of years from Earth, whose occupants are the last human alive, a creature evolved from the ships cat, a mechanoid and a hologram of a dead crew member.

A new series has recently started and it pretty much is on par with the old stuff.

Back To Earth was horrible... I watched the episode "Trojan" from the new series and thought it was at least on par with old Dwarf.

We have a channel in the UK called Dave.

Most famous for playing seemingly endless re-runs of UK Top Gear.

Yeah, I saw the episode where that happened. So that's the first one? I really didn't miss anything. Well, it's really shit then.

Since I don't have a TV I've had to organise other ways of seeing the episodes...

They're pretty easy to find, apparently there's another episode on today.

Just seen the new one, so far this series has been brilliant, certainly reminiscent of the older stuff, which is great because Back to Earth was rather shit.

Anyone else think Doug Naylor has taken the hint about not having as outlandish plots as series 7+8 and mainly using character interaction for the gags?

This series has been better than 7 onwards for me so far... Hope it continues!

Edit: As funny as the clip you posted was, I think the teaching Kryten to lie is much funnier! Especially the line about the Bolivian Navy

Three million years.

Red Dwarf X has been awesome so far, hopefully it stays good.

For those doubting that the new series could be just as good.

Well here's probably one of the best parts:

Sadly you don't get all the set up, but it's still genius.

I'm not getting the Kochanski jokes... Is this hinting at something?

Well Kochanski was his on off girlfriend before the accident. She came back for the last two series and has just kinda... vanished again.

I honestly don't know where the new series fits in. I guess it slots in somewhere before the show kinda lost it's direction with "Back In The Red"

Just watched the new episode and was wondering this too.
About a month ago I met Craig Charles while walking down the street. Shook his hand and he seemed like a pretty nice guy. Every time I go past this one pub in Manchester he is always there :P

I thought canonically it was nine and a bit years after "Only The Good"

Or is that what you meant? I'm a bit slow today...

That would make sense, kinda.

I don't think it really matters too much though.

Since when has Dwarf been about continuity?

The number of the Crew who died has changed every time it's been mentioned

Got around to watching the new episode today.

First 3/4 are awesome. Really good exploration of some old themes. I love how they're not pandering to newer audiences, it really is a fans show for fans.

Does mean I've had to explain a few things to my house mate though xD I guess in some ways it might make people go back and watch the older series.

I'd say the ending felt a little bit rushed, but the show's had that before now.

I've not been able to see the new series yet. In my new flat I haven't got internet yet, nor a TV. I'm briefly back at my parents for the evening or I wouldn't even be able to post here.

But I've heard good things about the new series and that excites me. I've seen the classic stuff enough times to almost quote whole episodes from memory (okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but still...) Maybe I'll rewatch my DVD collection once I'm done with A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

It's the Bolivian navy on manoeuvres in the South Pacific!

That line just cracks me up, every time...

The new series is a hell of a lot better than BTE.
