Hey guys, I'm not sure if I've ever posted in this part of UG. However I've been playing music for about 6 years now from a bass curriculum based on arpeggios, pentatonics, and modes. I just recently found this video of my guitar teacher explaining his mode system that he taught me. Now I understand everything he is saying because I took lessons from him for 5 years, but I wanted to show this to other people and see if they can understand it and use it. I'm not trying to advertise his teachings, but really just share it because it makes songwriting, lead style, rhythm style, and just a basic understanding of scales and intervals pretty easy and with a visual representation (the mode wheel).

Hope this helps you guys as much as it helps me!

simply the fact that this is yet another guy who doesn't really know what he's talking about, but speaks with enough confidence to tell people that he's a teacher. guys like this are a dime a dozen, and they have been since before i was even born. it's not his fault, though, because this sort of thing doesn't come from nowhere. he probably has had a poor teacher himself, and as an instructor myself, i can tell you that there's a fairly wide selection of teachers (much less players) that really don't know their stuff well enough to educate.

people make such a great to-do about modes without even realizing that they're never really even using them.

I guess you just don't understand what he is saying? Or you don't know what you are saying, if you are saying that this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. If you don't qualify touring through the US and Europe, as well as attending Berklee college, as well as being a member of numerous bands, as well as producing 2 albums created by himself on all instruments and vocals in various mode systems that are outside the standard greek modes, as well as writing an entire book with his curriculum as not knowing what he's talking about, then I would really like to attend one of your lessons and see how you compare.

Sorry to disappoint but already there have been three posts that have offered personal opinions on the information linked in the original post and none have provided any supporting arguments in this thread to support their opinions.

Although I will give the thread starter the benefit of the doubt that he did not post this with the intentions of advertising, that is what the linked video is doing: it is advertising the guys book. For this reason I'm closing this thread.
