Hi there,
I bought a secondhand Peavey Valveking 100W amp head (new it'll costs me 500 euro's, now I got it for 275 ). The thing is, I don't exactly know what speaker cabinet type sounds great with this amp. I was hoping that someone here has some experience with this amp. I tried it out on a london city cabinet at my local rehearsal place....that one wasn't it for me..my budget leans towards the 'bang for your buck' category..
Thanks in advance!

Avatar loaded with V30s I'd say.

Also search for the Ultimate Valveking thread around here, has a couple of quick fixes for much better tone out of those amps.

You could get a Harley Benton(thomann's rebranded joyo) 4x12 with v30s from thomann for €349. Not sure how good the construction is but a set of 4 v30s costs that much to begin with.
My Rig:
Maverick F-1, Ibanez RG1527, Schecter Omen 8
Marshall JVM 410H,
Hand built 4x12 w/ V30s

PRS SE 212 cab. Really bang for your buck in terms of cost vs sound quality.

i don't think it's rebranded by joyo (though i could be wrong), it's just the pedals which are rebranded joyos

but if you're in europe it's probably worth considering. I haven't tried the 4x12 but i have the 2x12 and it's hard to complain for the money, as you said, the speakers alone would cost you like 90% (if not more) of the total cost of the cab.

I saw in a couple of pictures that on Bucketheads Les Paul (only some pictures) that his neck pickup is painted in white. Can anyone explain to me why he would do this, and if there are any pros and cons.

i saw this thread earlier, but i try not to tell other people what speakers they will like. it is kinda like trying to convince another person what their favorite color should be.

if you want to figure it out, you should play as many speakers as possible. and even then tastes may change, and if you get a different amp then all bets are off. speaker choice is highly dynamic, but these bentons that are getting recommended are a great place to start. most guitarists that lack alot of experience with speakers seem to prefer a V30 and there is a reason why.

^ agreed.

i wouldn't use a v30 for everything, but if you're used to cheapo speakers then a v30 is going to be amazing.

i don't even like a V30, but for someone starting out their expedition into speakers it is a superb starting point. you will compare almost all the speakers you play afterward to a V30.

I would mix it. One V30 and maybe a Greenback or a G12T-75. I have two V30s loaded in my cab and they sound amazing. The only thing I might do in the future is upgrade one of them with an Alnico Blue.
