I picked up a handful of old CDs and took them for a spin yesterday - one of these was S.C.I.E.N.C.E by Incubus.

I get to the track "A Certain Shade of Green", and suddenly I'm transported back 9 years to being 17, and going to the local rock club, getting smashed, and rocking out to that track.

Ah, nostalgia.

So Pit, what tracks take you back to fond memories of yesteryear?

Local 'rock' club (now plays dubstep and it's ilk for most of the night) plays the exact same shit it did years ago when I was in there at 16 (yes I am a total badass)

Once the last hours of being open roll up it goes back to things like SOAD, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, and the stuff around then.

I might have to investigate further - I went in a couple of years back, and it was playing all dubstep and indie stuff, so I left fairly sharpish and went to the local pub. If they go all nostalgia on my ass later on in the night, I'll be in heaven!

Sweet Child O'Mine, which is strange since I'm only 18. But at my first battle of the bands (I was like 14 at the time), 3 different bands played it and it has been a major part of my youth since

It was so utterly shit at the time ('omg this song again y')

I really loved Light My Fire by the Doors in elementary school

AC/DC songs always takes me back. My group of close friends in high school all loved AC/DC, so it reminds me of good times.

Early childhood is shit like S-Club 7 and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band

Also something called The Lighthouse Family, not because I liked it but because literally every damn car journey my mum would make us listen to it, the most boring crap I've ever heard in my life.

Teenage years were pure pop-punk, but some highlights would probably be Dammit by Blink-182, My Friends Over You by New Found Glory, Sugar We're Goin' Down by Fall Out Boy, Downfall Of Us As by A Day To Remember, those were all songs I played in my first kinda serious band and they make me go a little misty-eyed.

And songs like Down With The Sickness and Break Stuff remind me of the old metal club I used to go to all the time before it sold out and started playing dubstep. I was furious - the club had two rooms, it's main selling point was one room played pop the other played rock. Then they changed the rock room to pop, basically removing what made the club different. Stupid idiots.

My teenage years were the mid to late 90's so my nostalgia album list goes like:
Green Day - Insomniac
Bush - Sixteen Stone
Blink-182 - Dude Ranch & Enema of the State
Everclear - So Much for the Afterglow
Collective Soul - (self titled)

My music taste has grown and changed probably for the better but I'll admit I still love all these albums (even Blink!).

^I never noticed that incubus' singer had ear gauges long before they were popular

Since I'm only 18, I'm going to consider my "youth" as anything up to ten. Anyhoo, my favorite song as a kid was Lounge Act, even though I had no idea who the song was by I'd sing along to it when it came on the radio. AC/DC and the Offspring also play heavily into my youth, my mom loves AC/DC and would play it quite a bit, she also liked Offspring's "Smash" record a lot. My dad would play a lot of Rush and Grateful Dead, so I listened to a lot of that as a kid too.

Guitar driven Radiohead albums, Sonic youth and grunge bands always take me back. I feel bad for the kids today who aren't gonna have good music (from the radio) to remind them of their youth. There's still a ton of good music out there but most is local or independent, no more Radioheads
