I THINK this is the best place for my issue:

I bought a BOSS ME-25 Multi-FX pedal over a year ago which can with a disk that had a driver installer thing on it. I believe I was running XP on my laptop then, and it worked like a charm. I then had to get my computer re-imaged (I don't know if this term is used globally...it was updated), and now I can't record off my laptop using my ME-25.

The main issue here is that my shitty laptop doesn't have a disk drive. I think I installed it previously, but viewing the files on the disc on my PC and moving them onto a USB and installing them OFF my USB and onto my laptop. The Driver has three options: Vista driver installation, XP driver installation and Windows 7 installation.

So basically my questions are:

A) How do I check to see if my laptop's been updated to Windows7 or something else?

and

B) Is there any way anyone can think of for me to install the driver onto my laptop?

Thanks in advance!

(Pardon my cluelessness!)

A)Start menu, right click on 'My Computer' or 'Computer' and choose properties. In the window that pops up you should be told what version of Windows you're running.

B)If you have internet on your laptop you can download drivers from the Boss website
http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=1058#

EDIT:If you don't you can download the drivers to a USB then use that to put them on.

Sorry for the late response, but thanks for responding so quickly!

I actually thought these solutions might work, but they don't! When I select the instal.exe file it tells me that "an error has occurred" and tells me that I'll need to uninstall it and then reinstall it. However when I do this it still tells me that I need to uninstall it and retry it, so it's an endless cycle ahaha.

Anyone know a way around this?

EDIT: Oh, also, a few of the times I uninstalled it I saw a popup flash that said "too many other files are in use by 16-bit programs". Ach! Any way around this?

Thanks

THE ME-25 is far from an ideal recording solution... it's a guitar pedal... not a recording interface. A lot of people have problems getting them to work properly.

Hmmm, okay. So what can I do to be able to use the ME25 on my recordings but with good quality? Does this mean I need to buy an audio interface?
