December is still coming, but I feel it is time. It is time for the 2012 Album of the year thread to arrive.

It has been a phantasmagorical (f*uck you, im using that word) year for music, and there are many a albums I have thoroughly enjoyed this year. Alas, you must only decide one.

For me personally, my favourite album has been Beach House-Bloom. Dream pop perfection.

Honourable mentions to Good Kid Maad City, Lonerism, The Seer and Django Django.

Your turn Pit.

For me, Alcest's album that dropped in early January is still the best album of the year. That said, I haven't listened to Deftones latest yet, which i'm hoping will edge it out

Anathema is a good pick too

Don't you see? It's an accentuation of the widespread pressure on Asians to conform to society! They're forced to put on a happy face and gut themselves because that is what SOCIETY AND OTHER ASSHOLES LIKE YOU THINK THEY SHOULD DO! FUCK YOUR STEREOTYPES!

Grow up, you piece of shit.

Arjen Lucassen - Lost In The New Real
The Devin Townsend Project - Epicloud
Periphery - II: This Time It's Personal
Rush - Clockwork Angels
Storm Corrosion - s/t

And that's about it.
I can't help wondering things like "What's Bob Dylan doing now? Is he at home, eating a big bowl of corn flakes just like I will, later on when I return back home?"

Rarely have I seen more wrong contained in a single thread.

The exception might be the guy who mentioned Devin, Arjen and Rush, but I haven't heard any of those albums to confirm it, and he also mentioned Periphaggotry.

Believe me, I was pretty skeptical too. I didn't care for their first album that much and I quite dislike this whole "Djent" scene, but their second album isn't bad at all.

But to be honest, I find there just weren't that many great albums released this year. Lots of well-known decent mainstream rock bands coming out with new shit (Muse, Deftones, Soundgarden), but nothing from any of my favourite artists. And as much as I like those bands, I just can't stomach adding them to any list of top albums. Maybe next year, I'll have something to write home about. There's supposed to be a new Ayreon album next year, and I also hear Pain Of Salvation is doing another acoustic album.
