It is kinda funny watching people get all upset because someone else watches a TV show.

I`m just trying to figure out what makes us obsessed. You said because there are conventions, so I said lots of things have conventions that nobody would say that about.

But if you can`t actually think of a reason, just call me strawman again.

I've repeated myself three times, I don't see why you don't get it. No other cartoon has the same sort of culture built up around it. I have already conceded that conventions for other stuff does exist but they are COMPARATIVELY sparse. And that is why "bronies" are perceived as weird. You are strawmanning my position by disregarding my relative qualifiers

I love irony.

I love not adding anything at all

I love not adding anything substantial

I think the fact that its a girls cartoon adds to the weird factor
The size of the fan base has nothing to do with it.

Just a shout out to Erik: Check your PM's if you haven't already. Cheers.

Maybe 10 years ago before broadband internet, DeviantArt and Youtube, but these days having a culture built up around a franchise is very commonplace, especially on the internet. Perhaps just not so controversial.

I don't see how MLP is any more substantial than Pokemon when it was extremely popular over 10 years ago for example. Conventions for Pokemon were everywhere back then. Then look at Japan's culture that seems to have media conventions be as widespread as mini-malls.

I don't know what the popularity of Pokemon was 10 years ago for adults. I know that it was popular among kids and its continued popularity among adults now is mostly nostalgia factor (for example, 1st and 2nd gen being better than the others). Yeah, Japan seems to have more conventions on average for weirder stuff but we'd hardly consider Otaku culture as 'normal', would we?

Yeah, probably. If a guy told me he keeps a large collection of barbie dolls, I'd think him weird as well

The least manly things I watch on television are cooking shows, and even then, I'm watching shit like No Reservations, Bizarre Foods, and Iron Chef, and those shows are pretty ****ing manly.

Trust me guys, I'm a man. I go peepee standing up.

Wasn`t an arguement.
I`m to tired of this, one can not argue about MLP for this long.

I`m finishing Guilty Crown now.

Just what this needed: Due the butt mad feminist.

Suck my dick moron, and here's why:
  • I posted in this thread a while ago and nothing happened.
  • I was talking about Jawbreaker, not about this dumb thread.
  • Everyone knows this thread is hella dumb, why should I tell everyone so.
  • I am not a 'butt mad feminist'.

I don't think there's anything wrong with guys liking My Little Pony.

However, "Bronies" with that attitude like they're some type of anti-sexism paragon for being "secure with their masculinity" by watching the show get on my nerves.

The Real Housewives shows.

I have to watch them because of my wife
My God, it's full of stars!

Feminine shows/Movies I still enjoy:

The Golden Girls (Dreadnought will back me up, here)

iCarly (It can be corny most of the time. Sometimes it makes me laugh)

Victorious (Come at me)

Mean Girls (Best chick flick ever)

Easy A

Immature stuff I still enjoy:

Dragon Ball (Z) (Kind of a guilty pleasure, but man I love DBZ. The story arcs are poorly written, but I don't care about story. The show has great characters)

Hey Arnold (I legitimately think this is a very good show with excellent writing by really any standards)

Spongebob Squarepants (It's funny but they play it so much on TV I've actually grown tired of it)
