I feel like it's a dumb question, but does anybody make a guitar similar in general style to a PRS Starla, but at half the price (give or take)?

Get a PRS SE Single cut and add a bigsby to it. They make a Bigsby that will retro fit a wraparound tail piece.
Used SE Single cut $300
Bigsby with mount $200-$250ish
Thats <$600

You can also get used Starlas for $1000ish.

Are there any SEs you know of that have the beveled top? My girlfriend just saw that Starla and loved that bevel style (she likes the SG for the same reason). The Starla also has that retro thing going on, which is good for her because she's really into rockabilly. (Not really digging the hollowbodies for whatever reason, but hey - it's her instrument choice!)

The various PRS SE single cut designs have a bevelled top, but not in the same way as the Starla. The Starla is a completely unique design, at least in terms of appearance.

You can sometimes find the hard tail version of the Starla second hand for about two thirds the price of a new one. That's the only way you'll get something like that for less-than-new price.

There are of course thousands of other single cut design guitars around for cheap, but they're all going to be based on Les Pauls. The Starla, as I said, is unique.

Thanks! I'll hate to break it to her, but I don't think she had her hopes up much in the first place.

Or buy a 2nd hand Starla?

I thought at one point GC were doing them for $999.

The Fernandes Monterey Elite Tremolo is a LP-bodied guitar with tremolo under $1000, no bevel.

The Richmond Empire has the LP shape, retro style, a HB in the bridge and a P90 in the neck (or 2 P90s) under $1000, no trem.

The Richmond Dorchester has 2 Lace Alumitones, retro style, beveled edge, and Bigsby under $1000, but is shaped like a Mosrite, not an LP.

The Richmond Belmont Laurentian has a SD '59 HB in the bridge, a SD Lipstick in the center and neck positions, retro style, and Bigsby under $1000, but is shaped sort of like a Strat mated with a SG.

The Reverend Flatroc has a korina body, a Bigsby with 2 mini-humbuckers, unique body style, retro styling, under $1000, but no beveling.

(The Reverend Reeves Gabrels sig models are based in the Flatroc, but use a Wilkinson and have different pickups, one version using Railhammers. The Gil Parris is also based on this body, but is a HSH with no trem.)

The Reverend Jetstream has a korina body, a Wilkinson trem, 2 HBs, retro styling, unique body style, under $1000, but no beveling.

The Sparrow Rat Rod Ace has the LP shape, quasi-Western psychobilly style, 2HB, Bigsby, under $1000, no bevel.

You might consider First Act's Custom Shop- they've done a number of nice guitars for pros, and if they can do THIS:

...they might be able to deliver you a nifty axe of your own.

I don't think I've ever played anything in black walnut. It's a great ice cream flavor, so I assume it works well for a strat too.
