well as we are all aware the holiday season is here, my family needs gift ideas for me and i figured i'll get back into recording covers (and originals) of songs. BUT i have no clue whats best for recording electric guitar.

im looking for EITHER:

a video camera with good/great sound recording for under $400

OR

a cheap video camera, and purchase a recording microphone to go along with it. for around $400

is that asking too much? or are there possibilities within my price range?
I could be kicking the bucket, but i never had very good aim

SM57 $100
Blue Icicle $60 (if you want to keep it cheap)
OR
Scarlett 2i4 $200

Depending on which interface that leaves either $100 or $250 for a video camera. The Scarlett would definitely sound better, and is more flexible because you have the DI option as well, but it's over triple the price of the Icicle so it's up to you whether it's worth it.

Or you might try a cheap interface and use amp modeling.
A Pod Studio UX1 is only $100 and comes with Pod Farm to get you started.

Not to completely jump your shit but after looking on his page, hes got a nice $2400 Marshall Head with a good speaker cab to go with it. Its almost an insult to his setup to use Pod Farm instead of something that nice unless there is concern about volume & not being able to keep it cranked.

Anyways, I'd go Scarlett 2i4 & SM57 with that setup.
