As a 100% guitar Collector, In the past 3 years, I spent about $ 2000 to buy guitars from different Chinese buyers, well I am lucky nobody send me empty box with toilet paper......BUT, some people really make me sick. I can't say that I am expert now...However, I would like to share with you some tips.

1) Never buy any guitar from a chinese seller with no inventory. This is very important, but why? They made promised to you, "I can finish in 10days" but after that, their reply began to slow down, and then is endless waiting.

2) Never buy any guitar from a chinese seller can't show you actual picture!!! Let them hold the baby and take picture. Because! they may give U other seller's photograph.

3) If your friends bought guitars from some Chinese sellers and the reaction is GOOD, then believe your friends!

but why would you spend nearly 2k on chinese guitars.

This. Collecting many cheap guitars is not as fulfilling as owning 1 or 2 higher quality guitars, imo. Unless your not really interested in playing them....

Why not go to the local pawn shop and buy the $35 Chinese knock offs they seem to have on hand all the time?

If I miss two days, the critics notice it.
If I miss three days, the audience notices it.

Ah, I see now. You aren't talking about any Chinese guitar, you are talking about counterfeits.

Instead of collecting many junk, chinese knock-offs, you could just buy a real Gibson that will actually sound and play good, as well as be worth money, should you decide to sell it.

So you believe the counterfeits are as good as a real Gibson? Honestly, you'd probably be better off just buying an Epiphone. But I'm guessing that the name on the headstock means so much to you that you'd buy a counterfeit instead. I hope you aren't hoping to sell those as real Gibsons to anyone.

A counterfeit collector eh? I spose u could nail them to a wall and not worry about upkeep. I personally dont see the point of gathering a stash of mediocre, depreciating, paperweights, though you have got me thinking what other types of counterfeight non collectible items one could collect.

No, I am pretty sure they spent two million on eight guitars.

Like the other topic somebody posted about ioffer, I don't get why people are willing to buy cheap guitars made in china, and buy them from chinese sellers, to boot.

1. Understand the legal system. You have no options if you get ripped off. It's China, *****! Get used to it.

2. There are TONS of chinese sellers who run scams online. If you remember ebay from the old days, before the big crackdown on bootlegs, practically every dvd coming from a chinese seller was certain to be a pirated copy (possibly a very poor-quality one).

3. Chinese guitars under $300 are probably going to be awful. A big-name brand might help with QC and other issues, but you still may very well draw a totally worthless piece of garbage. Korea, Indonesia and Japan all seem to produce higher-quality guitars on average for that price range.

4. Now on top of all of this, you're talking about buying illegal copies? Take every problem I just mentioned and add onto it that you'll never be able to sell the guitar and will have to plead ignorance (and possibly lose the guitar) if the cops ever find out and decide to enforce the laws you are breaking.

You complain that "some people really make me sick"? So why are you putting yourself in a position to be their victim? Repeatedly? If I was mugged in a dark alley in a bad neighborhood, I wouldn't go back there every night for the next two weeks. >_>
