haha, I saw Dawes when my drummer's old band opened for them. They were alright, they just kind of left after the show and didn't really talk to anybody before, but Deer Tick is a million times better.

Haha true. I just think that Dawes plays to a more, ahem, mainstream crowd. Deer Tick is pretty amazing.

The only artist I can say I had this thought about was Macklemore. We used to see him in high school open for everyone, but half the time I thought he was just as good as the main act. Now, I actually saw one of his videos on MTV and Thrift Shop has 30 mil views on youtube.

So Macklemore. But, it looks like he's already blown up.

Leprous will probably be big in the prog scene soon, but they're unknown, not unpopular...

Checking them out now.

This band is amazing.

Check out Tall Poppy Syndrome, it's their best album imo

Been doing so. How's their 2011 album compare, would you say?

Not as good as Tall Poppy Syndrome imo, but still worth getting.

They're also working on another one for 2013

Forever Road?

+1
Or a re-formed Oceansize, that would be champion.
Personally I'd like to see Dinosaur Pile-up become a bit more popular.

Personally I think Blood Red Shoes are going to break into the US mass market any time now.

I had no idea they were still around. Saw them support Biffy Clyro in about 07 and thought they were terrible.

Shakey Graves. He's a one man band, really interesting dude. It's hard to imagine people liking Mumford and Sons but not him, so he'll probably start getting a lot of radio play.
#62
I can imagine Foals becoming a lot more popular, for a kind of indie rock act with math influences they already were pretty damn big, and a month or so ago they released a single from their upcoming third album and their sound is becoming a lot more mainstream than the earlier work, they might just become huge.

I gotta agree, those guys rule.
The thing with punk rock though, is that there are millions of great bands. And hardly any of them will reach popularity (I mean, check out; None More Black, The Flatliners as an example).

that. Great band.

I was gonna post that vid, great song.

doubtful.

No, letlive. are touring like mofos. They're on course to increase their base massively (and rightly so, Fake History is a great record, and letlive. dominate live).

letlive is butts.

You're butts.

Also I reckon these two are already popular, but Touché Amoré and La Dispute are sick.

EDIT: Already established, and maybe I'm just out of touch, but The Chariot.

In all seriousness, Forever Road has more mainstream potential than anyone else mentioned in this thread.

There's a band in my area that's a complete Foals rip-off; they dress the same, same hairstyles, everything. They got a bit of a "holier than thou" attitude and have spent a lot of their time trying to distance themselves from the local scene (or lack-thereof), seems to have worked out for them though. Their music is alright, but not something I'd pay to see. Here's a live vid of them and their cringe-worthy "dancing".

Fender offsets are like the key defining characteristic of a hipster band. Makes me not want a Jaguar now.

I know that feel, it's upsetting. I still want my CAR Jag and sunburst mustang with a white guard though.

Katzenjammer, Listener, Three Trapped Tigers and Warpaint. They're too good to stay unknown, and frankly they deserve all our damn money.
