Tell me more about it, what are your opinions about this guitar???

Never played one, but I own 2 Deans that I love to death.

I say that to put this in perspective: don't buy Deans under $500- there are better guitars in that price range offered by brands like Ibanez, Shechter...just go looking.

Still wouldn't do it.

My cheapest electric is a Dean Special Select EVO- basically, the top end of the EVO line. When I bought it new almost a decade ago, it was about $400-500. It is well made, holds its tuning with a death grip, and feels and looks great.

But over the years, it has been revealed that its pickups are terrible. While it can growl with any of my other guitars, it can't do cleans well at all. Very muddy. So in honor of its 10th birthday, its getting some new Bareknuckle pickups next year.

In contrast, I've played Ibanez guitars in stores in that sub-$500 range that sounded much better.

In addition, low end Deans have had a few too many QC issues of late. And, while it isn't an issue with the Zone line, some use a soft wood called paulownia that, IMHO, is not suitable to the task of being a guitar.

You are making me depressed, I heard good things about it, and now you tell me not to touch it

And for me colour doesn't matter if some are talking about it

Hearing good things doesn't mean it's good. They likely have no idea what they're talking about. :P

I wouldn't buy any Dean, let alone a cheap one; the Deans I've played in the past have never been anything but plastic-y, fuzzy sounding and bad.

Here's the deal: any guitar maker can make a good or bad guitar, at any price in their line.* But it's more likely that a cheaper guitar will be worse, and even among cheap guitars, there is a hierarchy of quality. Dean does make some good guitars, but you're not likely to find one under $500.

You're much better off looking at Ibanez, Jackson, Schecter and other brands like that for what you want.

* there is a New Orleans bluesman who used a cheap Squier and the amp it came with to make a career that paid all of his bills, raise his family and buy other guitars most people around here could only dream about. Despite having axes worth more than some midsized cars, that Squier was his main guitar because it "had the mojo" none of his other guitars could touch. (He lost it- and most of the rest of his collection- to the floods of Katrina.)
