So its 2013, which means A NEW SEASON OF F1 IS UPON US and I thought it would be best to start a new thread about it!

A few changes in the grid and line-up but nothing too drastic overall. Schuey leaves and Botas enters. Im looking forward to seeing how he copes after showing decent potential.

My prediction: Vettel or Alonso for drivers championship (too close to choose one) and Ferrari for constructors championship.

Wildcard: Mercedes for constructors championship and Lewis for drivers championship. (you never know with Lewis/ Nico + Boss Brawn, they might just pull it off )

and Kubica better return in 2014.

Thoughts? Ideas? Discuss!

one can hope/ dream!

perez for wdc? interesting, you never know, the mclaren was fast last year and now they are just developing one type of car suited to buttons driving and perez can adapt fairly well. he will win a few races but wdc might be asking a little too much form him.

I'm more interested in seeing a competition between Lotus and Mercedes than the actual championship. Hamilton and Raikkonen doing a few nascar love-taps.

Also, absolutely no confidence in McLaren.

First page.

I will remain a Lotus fanboy, Kimi and Romain are my homeboys.

And if Bianchi gets his Force India seat, I'll become a Bianchi fanboy too.

Here's to a (hopefully) competitive and entertaining 2013 season!

Woo first page.

Whatever happened to Algersuari?

I think he might sign to BMW for DTM or something, I read something about it not to long ago but I'm not sure.

Guess not. Oh well, that's one less person in competition for Bianchi's seat at Force India so. Btw, does anyone know when they're going to announce who gets that seat?

Plot twist:

Their new driver is going to be The Stig.

Who knows?

71 days 8 hours 42 minutes and 40 seconds left until Melbourne FP1 as of now; let's get this season started already!

Yeah, he's been in talks for that Force India seat for weeks. It's between him and Bianchi now.

I believe he has a lot of talent and he definitely deserves at least a chance to prove that he's got what it takes for formula one.

/most unbiased answer I could come up with.

What is this sub-par F1 thread? I demand more fanciness in the OP!

Kimi is my WDC pick. Long shot, but I have faith in Lotus to give him the car he needs.

He proved last season that he still has it.

Me too. Hope to see Lewis with at least 1 win, interested to see how he compares to Rosberg and that will show also a bit how Shumi was. Hope Kimi has a good car, Romain could be in there too. See how FIndia performs, Williams...so much to look forward to.

I also can't wait for Rossi on the Yamaha, that'll be a lot of drama. Surprised there's not a lot of MotoGP/F1 fans, seems like the two sports hate each other, at least I know MototGP fans hate "boring" F1, but ...F1 was 100x more exciting last year. To me they are so similar in so many ways it's weird to imagine them not having the same fans.

Edit, thinking about it -I'll bet they are in Italy.

Don will have to discuss his OP plan to the real OP and get it put through on his behalf, or something.

Which GPs is everyone going to this year? I'll obviously be at the Melbourne one (it will be my 17th in a row) and Manda and I are planning to go to Austin in November. Yeehaw.

EDIT - the main contingent of MotoGP fans are Spanish. Hence why they have four races a year there at Jerez, Catalunya, Aragon & Valencia.

who is going to be your fanboy crush for 2013 since KK isnt around? Massa?

Predictions:

- Lotus will be stronger, as long as they are not pussies with tyre strategy

- Ferrari will be faster in the car department but not by much, given they have dedicated 50% of their resources towards 2014

- McLaren will continue to be fast yet unreliable

- Mercedes won't progress but Hamilton will luck into a win somewhere

- Sauber will go forwards (with Hulk) but go backwards (with Guitarz)

- Williams will surge in form. I expect more wins from them.

- The 20th GP won't happen... anywhere. Unless Bernie bankrolls Turkey since the government said no.

- Massa will be better but he will not beat Alonso

- Perez will win a race but won't be a championship force (see reliability)

- The championship will not be down to two drivers, I expect the Pirelli lottery of last year to last even longer this time.

You reckon? Why's that?

Didn't realise Ferrari were quite so focused on 2014. That's a shame really for 2013. Would love to see Hamilton v Alonso at the front in '14 though.

I'm not quite as down as you on Merc for this season I could see them fighting for podiums pretty often (moreso than 2012, anyway), unless they are just entirely focused on 2014. Surely Hamilton wouldn't sign for a team that is going to struggle to be in the top 10 throughout 2013, regardless of their 2014 plans? Who knows.

Ahahaha - or complain about team orders, yellow flags etc

Khann - I just see it being down to Vettel, Alonso, Kimi & Jenson as long as the cars performance is there. I can't see Mercedes be anything more than a tyre shredder that works in the right circumstances - especially when Pirelli are going to be even more degradable this year. Iono, I don't see it. 2014 will be mad different.

Apparently Red Bull haven't been able to focus on their 2013 car since they were rolling out upgrades for the 2012 car so Perfect Seb could win the title.
Sauce.

I think it will have sod all impact, the rules are quite stagnant at the moment and they should be able to use most of the 2012 work for their new car.

Yeah, I don't think it'll affect them that much. My predictions for 2013:

- McLaren will have the fastest car, and will be more reliable than last year.
- Redbull will again win the constructor's championship.
- For some reason, I think Button is going to be WDC. Button or Raikkonen.
- McLaren will be runner ups in the Constructor's championship, followed by Lotus, who will beat Ferrari for third.
- Lotus will build upon their 2012 success and win a couple of more races.
- Grosjean will score some good points and will win a race.
- Mercedes will win a race.
- Force India will win a race.
- Williams will win a race, but I don't think they will have more speed than they did last year tbh.

These are my predictions so far.

oh bernie

crush this year? dunno. kamui was love at first sight and there's nobody like that.

predictions - vettel, button, alonso and kimi for WDC.

hamilton, webber and perez will win at least one race.

grosjean will still have too many incidents. gutierrez will be the new grosjean.

luca will use the word 'polemics' at least twice this year, in the context of the concorde agreement and another unknown context. possibly fruit.

lol, he had 2 posts in last years thread.

I'm gonna predict that Romain and Pastor do well, maybe top five, I know that's way out on a limb, and I don't really like either of them. Also maybe Perez outshines Button, I've never thought Button was great, yet to see how that goes in '13
