If it's a bolt on neck it's the G-310. I don't think the G-400 came in black.

In the end, the only question is: what bass would Jesus play?

I think he's a Fender Jazz guy.

That someone has put some active pickups in.

How do you know they are active pickups and not just pickup covers?

It does come in black, you just don't see many of them. The G400 has the smaller pick guard, there is one with the large pick guard but it also has block inlays and not dots.

True, they just look like active pickups though. They may be some sort of naff pickup cover that someone has decided to add.

If it is a bolt on neck it is a G-310 like said before. I know it is not a G-400 because it has no Trapezoid inlays the G-400 never came with dot markers.

Is there a battery compartment anywhere on the guitar?

Those pickups have 2 height adjustment screws on one side and 1 on the other side.

Take the pick guard off and see if there is a battery if there is no compatrment on the body.
