Hey there guys, I'm looking at replacing my 12 year old Bronze series Warlock,
I have two choices as I've played on both recently.
(The Schecter Diamond Series Omen 6)
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/electric_guitars/schecter/omen-6/index.html

OR
(The Epiphone SG LE '66 G-400)
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Limited-Edition-1966-G-400-Electric-Guitar-102676350-i1166714.gc

Personally, I've never liked the way a gloss paint feels on a guitar and I've found a couple of SG's locally that have a light stain on them.

I can't get anyone to take me seriously when I ask about what I can do to make my Bronze push a little extra because, when I do, they tell me to toss it in the trash. It's my first guitar and as such I'm going to play her until she literally shatters into pieces.

Would you guys/girls give me some input on the Schecter or Epiphone as a good guitar to build on?

Thanks in advance =]

My friend that I jam with has an Omen 6, Diamond series like the one you listed. I regularly play it, and he plays my Rhoads.

I'd take the Schecter over the Epiphone. Strats are more comfortable for me.

Whats your amp?

Great choice.

What are you going to be playing on it?

If you're that dedicated to the Bronze (can't blame you), pickup swaps might help.

I love all sorts of rock but, if I had to pick a sound I'd want to build on, I'd have to start with John-5, when he was with Marilyn Manson, mixed along with some Dan Auerbach in The Black Keys.
That's what I got to start with but, I'll add as I go.

That's two different ends of the spectrum, but nice choices.

PLay both guitars, get the one you like best.

I'm certainly leaning towards the Schecter for sure.
I have some extra time to decide until income tax rolls in.

Ueah man those guitars are worlds apart. Personally I would go used so I would have a better chance of scoring both. This way I don't have to decide which one.

I actually did this when I got my Fender P, and jazz basses.

In the end, the only question is: what bass would Jesus play?

I think he's a Fender Jazz guy.

Well, the closest used Omen 6 is about two hours away but, refurb at GC is $300
and I saw the SG at a local shop for $279

Honestly, they're both really great guitars but, I think I'm going to shoot with the Schecter.
