when people say and write "my heart gos out to..." or "my thoughts and prayers go out to..." ? It's the most pathetic attempt at looking compassionate I've ever seen and these people usually don't actually care very much. They go about their usual buisness and forget what the latest thing to pretend to care about was.

Edit. The thing is, noone ****ing cares. Their prayers and thoughts are useless. It's merely an attempt to make themselves feel better about themselves and look better in the eyes of other people.

It's a pretty cheap thrill that people like to get

Like pages on facebook and emailing eachother to pray for people...

but atleast they're thinking about it

besides, No point in getting pissed off about something that's not going to change...
It's over simplified, So what!

Yeah, I hate when people act considerate. Also god (not capitalized on porpoise) dont exist so people who pray are wasting time. Sigh why do I have to be surrounded by all these sheeple :/
#6
I mean, some people believe that prayer really does matter, and in many cases the people who say this aren't under any direct obligation to help the person they are talking about. We can all agree that prayer can't cause harm at least, right. I understand being mad because people are fake, but not everyone who says they will pray for someone is faking. I agree about the whole "making themselves feel better about themselves thing" tho. Insincere people are annoying.

Condolences shouldn't be thrown around as such, but they're never meant to bring any harm to anyone. But yes, it pisses me off when I see someone cuss out someone in a tweet then tweet a bible verse or say they're praying for something. Its just called hypocrisy.

maybe it has something to do with feeling the pressure to say something when you're famous. you know some people are gonna tear the president apart if he doesn't say stuff like that for a tragedy like the recent elementary school shooting, for example. and on internet social media, everyone is famous.

If you're really that pissed off about people offering condolences, even if they're only offering them to feel better about themselves, you have bigger issues than people giving condolences.

Yeah, when people attempt to seem nice and comfort someone, regardless of sincerity, is a terrible, terrible thing. It pisses me off so much that someone would do that.

Depends on the situation. If someone is praying instead of taking action it could be harmful.

If, to quote you, these people don't care very much, why would they take action?

You're a really bad TS, TS. Mostly because you have the stupidest opinions like this.

Like, this sounds like something a 14 year old emo says when they want more attention.
It's okay if you need attention, TS...
I'm here for you.
My thoughts go out to you for not getting enough attention, and you have my prayers to help you find that attention.

Edit: Look, if your dog were to die, I'd tell you I'm sorry you have to deal with it, because I would be. But I'm not gonna bury him for you or try to bring him back to life because you're not a baby. You're a grown man, I assume. Whether or not you appreciate the thought is up to you, but you don't need someone holding your hand every time you get a boo-boo.

How ironic. I make a thread about people doing what you think I am doing, then you do it aswell.

If they don't care, they're not going to act either way, so it's not like they're making anything worse by offering their condolences. They never were going to act in the first place, it's not an "If they don't pray they act" or "If they pray they don't act" or something. It causes no harm, and it could raise someone's spirits, so it can help.

Again, if it really bugs you that much, you have bigger problems than people offering insincere words.

I kinda agree to a certain extent... I just think its over used and alot of people don't want others feeling sorry for them because

I dont like it when people feel sorry for me...but I do like knowing someone cares if im in a rough spot

I'm pretty cynical but you have a very juvenile way of looking at things. You can't know they actual intentions unless they tell you. Anything else you "know" about them is a fallacy.

My thoughts exactly.

And TS should be living in an extremely remote island without any way of communicating to and from. I think that is the only solution... well if he doesn't consider growing a pair, a life and a job.

If I say "I'm thinking about you", then I mean it. I normally don't just think about people.

By saying that, I hope to convey a feeling that the person is not alone, which is so often needed during times of adversity. It also provides me a chance to reflect on my own situation.

Get the **** over it.

Really? 'No one'... not one single person on the entire planet, genuinely cares about anyone else?
And exactly how many years worth of life experience and world travel did it take for you to come up with that hypothesis?

I won't disagree that self centered people exist, people who pretend to care deeply about others just to draw attention to themselves, but not everyone is like that.

Depends. If they think that because they've prayed about a cause that they're entitled to some credit for the effort to help then yeah, but I've never met someone who's done that. Nothing wrong with showing unity through prayer and sympathy
