Hi(: I am thinking of changing the bridge pickup in my Epiphone Zakk Wylde Buzzsaw from a EMG HZ-4 to a Seymour Duncan Bridge Invader Synyster Gates Custom. I've been offered it from a mate who has taken the invader out from his guitar and was wondering how this pickup would sound in my Les Paul body guitar. Would the new pickup fit in my guitar as it has been fitted with the EMG pickup?
Anything else I should be aware of?
Cheers,

The pickup will fit physically however you will need to rewire it as the Seymour Duncan invader is a passive pickup and will use 500k pots instead of the 25k ones active pickups like EMGs use.

You will also need to find a passive neck pickup if you wanted to keep it functional. Its not entire impossible to wire a guitar with one passive and one active pickup but it is a lot of work for very little reward.

Also try looking around for reviews of the standard Duncan Invader. As far as i can tell the "custom" part of the Synyster Gates pickup is the colour combinations available.

Don't listen to sic6505+, you can pop that sucker in and play away!
But before you go do that, consider this: the Invader in brighter guitars has a knack for sounding dark and muddy. Combined with the mahogany of a Les Paul and its shorter scale length, you're gonna have a bad time.

The 'Gates Invader is even muddier than the normal one. In a Les Paul, all you're going to get compared to the EMGs is less clarity and a little more bass.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

Ah, missed that it was a HZ, I've only used the active line of EMGs.

You're not missing much. "Underwhelming" is a compliment.
