I am new to this forum and hope you will guide me in the right direction.

I am upgrading myself from Acoustic to Electric Guitar and I have limited knowledge in this area. However, based on budget (for used ones) and reviews, I've narrowed down to Ibanez RG370DX and Jackson KVX10 King V. Both used for 1yr, Ibanez @ 170 and Jackson @ 250 GBP.. As I will not be investing again, I would like to know which one of these are good at the price offered? or is there any particular guitar you would suggest ??

Secondly, I have no clue what Amp I need to buy, I was suggested Line 6 Spider IV 15W by local shop. Again, I would want to buy a decent one for budget below 100 GBP. Need your advice here as well

Will be playing Metallica, Maiden, Slayer, Led Zepp, Black Sabbath on these

Any help is deeply appreciated

I've got an Ibanez RG370DX and it's a great guitar. Just don't abuse the trem and it's ok. The pickups definitely need to be changed as the infinity stock pups are muddy as hell.
Mine is modded quite a bit.

I'd say get the Jackson. I've played that guitar a while back, and its pretty solid. Pickups are better than the Ibanez pups. But the only thing is that the shape might intimidate beginners. Sitting wise.

But first thing's first, DON"T GET A SPIDER!!!
You'd be better off getting a Peavey Vypyr than a Line 6 Spider.

All of this is just my opinion and my experience with these products.

Amp should be 60% of your budget. Also, spyders are HORRIBLE. They will make even a $3000 lp sound like a cheap plywood guitar

Take the Ibanez, and go for a peavey viper for an amp.

For your first electric, I'd recommend a hardtail as opposed to a Floyd Rose-style bridge equipped guitar. These double locking bridge are a bitch to tune and setup and usually just drive novices mad.

I'd also stay away from V-style guitars for now, they are hard to play sitting (in my experience) which may bug you.

I'd look into a Ibanez RG321 or another RG or S type with a hardtail (I have the RGA32, which I love, but it might be out of your budget). If you want a Jackson, you could check out a Dinky or something. LTD also has a fair amount of S-type and LP-type guitars with a hard tail that are fairly good, from what I hear about them. Try it

For an amp: look into a Peavey Vypyr for metal tones. I had the 15w for a while, but it didn't do it for me. However, some say the 30w is much better (speaker wise), so maybe go used and get a 30w (it also has the USB-connection for recording I believe).

If the Vypyr isn't for you, look into a Vox VT15 or a VT20+, they are more focused on rock and blues rather than metal, but my experience with both amps is that they can handle 'teh brootalz' just fine. Just don't go Djent on them.
