I have been trying to figure out which guitar model this is for a long time. I've sent numerous emails to Matt Slocum and the record companies etc, but no one has ever gotten back. Now, I'm hoping someone on the UG forum can help me figure out this guitar model. Matt Slocum is playing a beautiful sparkly guitar with sickeningly great tone in this concert during his Sixpence None the Richer days. Here's the video:

[forbidden link]

It's in the first few seconds.

Listen to this one and tell me that doesn't sound amazing: [forbidden link]

Will someone please help me figure out which guitar this is? If not, would you happen to know a guitar historian or someone like that who can possibly help me figure it out?

Thanks in advance to the UG community.

would be better if your links worked...

Good sir, you're links are forbidden (apparently). Please fix them, as we are unable to see or hear the guitar and we can't help you otherwise.

I've seen this a couple of times recently- what gets a link "forbidden"?

Oh man, I didn't realize that I couldn't link things in. Ok, if you put Sixpence None the richer Down and out of time live, it should be one of the first videos on youtube. It is the one from the Creation festival. Please let me know if that works. I've been dying to know what that guitar is that he's playing. Thanks a lot!

I can't tell what it is from that video. It sounds alright, I wouldn't say it's an amazing tone, I found it hard to concentrate over all the whiny vocals.

Go ahead and spend your money, I don't care. It won't make you sound better.

This.

But anyway, it has a Fender headstock, so maybe a custom shop guitar? Looks like the original 60's Starcasters, but customized because the starcasters had different headstocks. I don't know.

Also, sorry to sound like a jerk,
but that song was awful.

Definitely not a Fender...

I don't think it is one, but it could be an Italia semihollow- they have a few models with a Fender-style headstock that hooks back a bit. (Just not quite like that one does.)

Well; it looks rather like an old Fender Coronado, but I've never seen one that looked quite like that one.

It could be a customized Coronado, or a custom-made knock-off. Sorry I could not be of more help.

If anyone's having trouble figuring out the guitar model, can you point me to someone who might know? I've been trying to figure out for a long time which make/model this is. It sort of looks like a fender, but it's really hard to tell. If so, which model? If not, which make/model? If you know any guitar historians or experts, please point me to them so I can get in touch with them!

Email, website, anything would be really appreciated.

Have you asked the guys at Guitar Player's forums? There are some people over there with some pretty arcane knowledge...

It's not a fender--the headstock is not a fender one. my best guess is that it might be a vintage japanese-made guitar. Definitely not a Coronado, that's for sure. Not much help i know, but you cant quite google "vintage hollow body hooked headstock unique f holes" and hope to get a lot of hits.

Might not be vintage- could be a custom.
