Hey!

I have a GAS list and I'm gonna tell you what it is, but first I'll tell you what guitars I have and what I use them for.

Gibson LP Traditional - Eb tuning normally. But for blues, rock and metal.
Fender Telecaster MIA - Blues, punk and rock & roll.
Fender Stratocaster MIA - (Depending on the pickups) Alternative, blues, everything.
Fender Telecaster Thinline 72 - My gigging guitar.
Fender MiM Telecaster - my old Tele
Squier Strat - The guitar I learn how to replace pickups etc.
A couple of Fender acoustics.

The guitars I want are:

Ibanez Jem - For the epic sweeps and beauty.
PRS Navarro - So pretty and I've always wanted a PRS.
Fender CS or Select - For the perfection.
A vintage Fender, 60s or early 70s - For the history.
Fender Telecaster Vintage Telecaster - As an eventual upgrade to the 72.
Gibson LP Custom - For the Gibson perfection.
Martin Acoustic - I'm unsure what model, but I'd like a good acoustic again, I haven't had a decent one in a while.
An SG - You gotta have an SG, no collection is complete without one!

I reckon that'll cost me around £15,000 and I'd like to get them all in the next 10 years, so that's one to two guitars a year. The vintage Fender will be the most expensive at around £5k, I don't plan to sell any of my current guitars so some will take some mighty saving.

I would like one or two this year. Maybe the Thinline and the PRS, but I also wanna get a newer bike so we'll see how it goes.

What about you? What guitars do you plan to get soon and what's high up on your G.A.S list?

What have you got now?

I'm really bad for it. I don't have any willpower when it comes to guitars.

I've been listening to too much of the Allman Bros. I'm pretty convinced that I need a vintage spec Les Paul into a Plexi.

A Plexi you say? Well, why didn't you say....?

Expensive though. Can you get one in a combo?

They seem to make an Plexi inspired type combo.

Is that what you're talking about or what Plexi specifically?

Plexis on Ebay go for around $1200. I'm sure I can find a good clone for the $800 range if I search hard enough.

And to my edit, Tom: I figured I should tackle my plexi before I get an LP. If greg has any hot tips on some Tokais or Grecos, though, I'd be all ears.

Weird. At the moment I can't really think of a guitar need or want.
Just picked up an Eastwood 3P DLX and am blown away by its ugly-awesomeness.
I suppose I could use a Jazzmaster, but that GAS hasn't gotten me yet.
Then again, I was just laid off yesterday, so perhaps my GAS has taken a backseat to my intense drive to not spend money. Tricky.

Edit:
Current Gear:
MIJ Fender Jaguar
Gibson Les Paul Special DC
MIM Blackout Telecaster
Epiphone ES 339
Ibanez AM 93
Eastwood 3P DLX
Mosrite Celebrity III
Home-built Les Paul (P90/humbucker configuration)

A few acoustics and a classical guitar.

A low-end Epi Acoustic

Gassing for:
'57 Gibson Les Paul Jr RI

It'll be atleast like, 20-30 years before I even start to obtain those guitars haha

I tend to give in to my GAS at times when financially I really shouldn't, but I figure **** it, I could pinch every penny and die tomorrow and never get a chance to play sweet gear. Current:
Gibson LP Custom
Ibanez S5470F
Ibanez RGA8
Schecter Hellraiser C-7 FR
Ace FX II (into to monitors)

Want:
Ibanez TAM100 (new Tosin Abasi Sig)

i will just make this short and simple and all will be purchased in 2013.

Gibson V (preferably black)
Gibson SG std (i have two, one is in C#std/drop B with dual emg 81's and is
bastardized), the other is 11/400)
Ibanez Prestige RG hopefully i can find a 2520 or similar for a reasonable price (it would
be my fourth prestige and need it for a different tuning).
ESP Viper if i can find the right one for the right price NOT positive.

however most of you know i will probably pick something else up as well and i get side tracked easily.

i am directing more money toward pedals this year.

i do want to pick up a k-tre, tremoverb, and budda superdrive, also potentially a krank revolution+, but again who knows.

About the only guitar I absolutely and truly want is a SRV signature series Stratocaster. I even just signed up to win one. I also want a Taylor 12 string acoustic.

That said, I can usually go to any store selling instruments, and find at least 10 guitars I want. God help me if I ever win the lottery and build a studio like I want. Though I may be doing the latter anyway, looking at some property to build a house on, and I intend to set one room up as my studio.

Yeah. Its not about being different on purpose, either. I've tried out the usual suspects- Fenders, Gibsons, etc., and didn't care for most of them. Don't get me wrong: there are mainstream guitars I would add to the collection- I would kill for a reverse firebird with 3 HB like the guitarist in Rival Sons- but they don't reach me like those on the list.

Did you copy and paste that?

Yep- I have that list in the Notes app of my iPod Touch and iPad2.

I had to edit it before posting, though- too many characters. I had to cut out some of my notes about why I wanted certain guitars...

And none of the basses, amps (except the Orange) basses or other instruments (theramin, harpejji, etc.) made the list.

What I have:
Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro (first guitar)
Jasmine by Takamine S35 (first acoustic)
PRS Tremonti SE (most recent addition)
Line 6 Spider IV 15 (first and only amp)
Line 6 FBV MkII

What I want:
PRS Tremonti (platinum and/or charcoal burst)
PRS Tremonti SE Custom (I passed up on it over the Tremonti SE because I wasn't sure how much more maintenance the trem arm would add, plus I haven't tried it)
PRS SC250
Mesa Boogie F-50
Mesa Boogie Dual/Triple Rectifier (probably will get the dual, I don't need the 150W)
Line 6 POD HD4/500 (trying to decide whether or not I'll need the 500 further down the line)
A better acoustic.

I'm trying to decide whether I should get the F-50 or the POD. The thing that caught my attention about the POD was the Dual Rectifier setting, but I'm concerned over whether or not I'd be better off putting out a little more money for the F-50 and how good the POD will actually sound. I'm also planning on doing some covers, so the POD would be useful for recording audio. Suggestions?

My list isn't very long since I've only been playing a year and there's not much opportunity for me to get out to local stores (there's not many here on Oahu anyways) and try stuff out, so I have to look at what the bands I like use.

Yea I've gathered that you're more interested in the obscure. That's cool, personally I'm a bit of a Fender nut but there's lot of lesser known guitars that are beautiful. I do worry a little about ease of resale with them which is silly but it is a concern.

I am looking at amps too. I'd like to try a Deluxe Reverb. They are expensive and the clean on my Super 60 is just something else, but the gain isn't the best. So if it can match the Supers clean with a better gain I may have to look into it more. I have a Laney VC50 that Tom recommended me. The clean is okay but the gain and overdrive are really cool. But I'd like a natural Fender overdrive that sounds great. I do normally use fuzz pedals but there's something about a good Fender gain.

So I have a great clean and a great overdrive on two separate amps, and I have an a/b box but it's hassle.

I always ask this and I rarely get answers because the Super is a bit of an unknown amp. Has anyone played the Super 60,how would you compare it to a Deluxe Reverb?

Yea I've gathered that you're more interested in the obscure. That's cool, personally I'm a bit of a Fender nut but there's lot of lesser known guitars that are beautiful. I do worry a little about ease of resale with them which is silly but it is a concern.

It's not that I started off interested in the obscure. When I was looking for my first electric, I was spoiled for choices. I'm in the Dallas area, so I could basically find any Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Gretsch PRS, etc. I wanted.

But I couldn't find a guitar that felt good in my hands, looked good to my eye, and fit my budget. So I had to look online. There, I found Dean guitars, and I wound up with an EVO and my TC Cadillac.

And I kept looking- both at websites and at music videos.

About a year later, I went to my first guitar show. It was a lot like my first shopping experience: lots of stuff to see, but nothing for me. The last booth at the show was the only guy ding his own thing- Jon Kammerer. Aesthetically and ergonomically, it was a revelation. I'm at 5 and counting of his guitars.

There ARE mainstream guitars I'd buy. Its just that they're lower priority for me right now.

Why, yes, I am a lawyer- thanks for asking!
