Alright, I think I made my point with that last thread, it's gone now. In case you didn't pick up on it, it was inflammatory and antagonistic on purpose. One reason was just to rile people up and get a rise, the other was to call attention to how we actually view rape. This is my more mature approach to some of the issues in that thread.

One thing I noticed is that some users felt that when they heard "rape" and then read the actual story, they didn't see it as so bad as what they initially thought. Now, this is in its own way an issue, because rape as a "man holding a knife to a woman forcing her" is the default scenario many of us go back to. Unfortunately, date rape is all the more common and less cinematic. We need to start seeing it for what it is, and not for this hyper dramatized scene in our heads. I don't blame you guys for jumping to that scenario, I honestly don't, but that has to change. Rape is a serious ****ing problem.

Another thing that came up is the notion of when consent can be given and when it can't. I'll leave that more open and less one sided in this thread to be discussed. I've already weighed in my two cents, and this is a less biased place to do so.

Any other related topics are welcome here. I just wanted to get that first thread out of my system. I'm sorry for any sore bums and feelings I might have hurt. The antagonistic nature of that thread was purely to cause a scene. My bad.

Also we didn't jump to a scenario in our head on our own. People in that thread actually said stuff that wasn't in the post they were describing. That's why everyone was a tad confused

No, seriously, I wanted a less biased discussion. That was really insensitive to people, opinions, and the subject matter at hand.

This a legitimate apology, and a better thread

Rape is rape, if somebody cannot give consent or is incapable of saying no, that does not make it acceptable.

Just because you don't force them through violence, its still rape.

Poll was silly
rape is always rape and is always not okay, guys

ITT discussing the boundaries of whats considered rape
you can't always determine how drunk someone you've never met before is
so its difficult to say if its rape or not
but just do what I do and don't talk to girls that are drunker than you
not ever
not even a little bit
okay maybe a little bit

I hate the ones that cling on to you like 'oh I'm so drunkkkkk.. will you hold me up'
its like
bitch ffs
moral highground and all that
if they instigate then its okay i suppose
like if they're literally asking for it
just don't make a habit of it okay?
okay

But boning drunk girls is taking advantage, and not rape, unless they're physically unable to give consent.

Taking advantage is just frowned upon, right?
Surely.

Sorry to break your hopes, I think it is acceptable.
It becomes unacceptable (and becomes rape) when the person is drunk to a point where she can't give consent anymore, and that pretty much means extremely drunk.
The fact that she wouldn't have agreed to have done so sober doesn't change anything. The fact that one more is more drunk than the other doesn't change much either.

The key word is consent. As long as they are both able to consent, I don't mind what those two drunkies do.
Your interpretation of what I said might be acceptable, but if I had gotten the correct message across I doubt they would. I was pretty much going for the same thing as you, if this wasn't clear, then sorry about that. By considerably more drunk I meant to imply both that she is too drunk to consent, and that you're not as well. And by saying that she wouldn't have done it sober I was excluding scenarios where the two were constantly having sex anyway and the girl would have given consent if she was sober, but by coincident one of them is drunk, which is more of a grey-area if it's a realistic scenario (my personal experience with being totally drunk and sex are somewhat limited, so I'm not entirely sure how alcohol would affect that balance. Please condemn me with proper gusto if I'm being a rape-apologist)

brad had a post detailing how he as well as others make the connection with rape as the more dramatic scenario. And the other explanations weren't truly too far off from what really happened, so I fail to see the harm done.

rape is bad
date rape is bad
taking advantage of drunk people is bad (what it appears to be)
impulsive drunk sex is great

Oh, I don't think I saw brad's post :/

And I think they were a bit off. I mean, someone said she was objecting the entire time and another said she was passed out. Neither of which actually happened

But that's besides the point I guess. It's still pretty ****ed up and not acceptable at all

I guess I'm just trying to explain why I and others were a little confused. You can ignore all of this

Don't **** drunk chicks ever. That simple. Don't get drunk so that you don't make the mistake of misjudging if a girl is drunk.

Problem ****ing solved.

Crunk was onto this in the last thread. Alcohol consumption is immoral.

anyone called Blake from Albuquerque, is bound to have a passionate feeling about rape. Especially incestuous rape.

just joking. my ex was tied up filmed and raped for 3 hours by a guy. led to an 8ball a week, eight years in therapy and no sex drive.

needless to say I would've tortured dat nigga with a pair of pliers n a blowtorch.

If you're drunk and you consent, the other person did not rape you.

I'm not missing the final point. You just seem like you don't want to hold people accountable for their actions. If you don't want to get drunk and conceptually have sex with someone that you later regret doing then.... (drumroll....)

DONT GET DRUNK!

If you DO get drunk, and you later make a decision to have sex with someone that you later regret, then YOU made that decision and the law shouldn't blame the other person for you're decision. If you're drugged by someone then of course that's different. But you choose to drink the alcohol, thus choosing to get drunk.

yes it was.

Again, it's not their actions/not their decision to have sex. Nobody gets drunk thinking "shit I'm gonna get so smashed tonight, my sober friend will have sex with me cause I'm incapable of making proper decisions because of all the alcohol in my system". You seem like you don't want to place any of the blame on the person who CONSCIOUSLY makes the decision to have sex with someone who is not in the right mind.

We're not talking about some chick at the club who got roofied. We're talking about two people who knew each other for some time before that night, and had spent the night hanging out and drinking together.

So the difference is in this case that drunk guy A probably thought awkwardly that she both liked him and wanted to ****. Girl B probably thought "Lol I kinda wanna **** right now" and asked to ****. Guy A probably should have walked her home anyway instead of inviting her in knowing she'd probably try to ****.

We're talking about young, stupid people.

Quote by captaincrunk
This thread would be better if it actually delved into something worth discussing, like whether it's immoral to be drunk in the first place. For instance, drunk people tend to fight more, insult more, and generally do bad things.

Couldn't get page two.

I had drunk sex before. Probably when myself and the female were too drunk to consent. That girl and I have been dating for 4ish years and lived together, but honestly that could have been considered rape for the both of us. That is weird to think about. #introspectiverapist

I'm assuming this is about that skyler kid. Having sex with a drunk girl isn't right when you're sober, but I wouldn't class it on the same level as a legitimate rape. Consent is given, she just can't properly consent and is in a vulnerable state so you're pretty obviously taking advantage and doing a pretty scummy thing. There's a certain point of drunkenness where she can't legally give consent and it's rape, but I do not know how drunk this girl was. Either way Skyler's a douche who took advantage of someone to stick his dick in her.

Lata homeboys.
