Also, if they go the VITA route and have no physical media, I don't think they're going to outsell anyone.

It's not the consumer's job to tell producers what they want, it's the producer's job to tell consumers what they want, even if they didn't even know it. People will warm up to these new consoles really quick.

And IMO, it is time. PC graphics are like 3x-4x better than 360/ps3 at this point. People aren't that excited to get 2006 graphics games anymore.

I was wondering because the Vita uses cartridges, which is smart because UMD was retared.

graphics on xbox/ps3 are a lot better than they were in 2006, regardless of having the same hardware as they did back then...

Besides, who wants to spend 3000 bucks on a super computer when you can spend 200 bucks on a console

alright, a shit load of people do that I just don't get it

I think it's more of people using it to the full advantage. Just look at most consoles and compare the graphics of games around launch and games around the end of their life. You'll see a difference.

You can spend half that price and still get the best graphics. The other $1500 would go to multiple monitors and more graphics cards so you can max everything on 3 screens.

The highest potential of a 360 compared to the highest potential of a new PC in terms of graphics is like comparing an 80s movie to a 2010 movie.

Even though PC gaming is more expensive to get off the ground, you save a ton of money thanks to Steam/Amazon/Gamersgate sales. Most of the games I buy for PC are around 75% off, for instance I got NBA 2k13 for $10 the other day while Target has the PS3 version on sale for $55. Those savings definitely add up.

Come on man I was just saying numbers not an exact

and it still doesn't change my point, Why spend 1500 bucks on a computer when you can spend 200 bucks on a console?

you could argue it's a better experience, But I'd rather have an xbox and 1200 bucks to blow

surely that's a better experience

I'm not hating on computers btw, what they're capable of is seriously incredible. But if your sole argument is just because of the graphics, I'm gonna say it's stupid.

Woah woah. First off, the PS3 and the 360 were not priced liked that when they came out. You had to wait years to get them at that price.

Plus consider the price of a TV. Way more pricey than a simple monitor. And I can do other things besides gaming on a computer too.

Hopefully it'll have better graphics, better connectivity and networking, improved features, in game and out of game.

Bottom line, better games.

If there's one thing I can say about the PS3 I had, it was that it survived a basement flood, where at least a water bottle amount of water came out of it, left it to dry for a week (not even doing that rice thing), and still worked perfectly when I plugged it in. With the xbox, if you hump the air 20 feet away from it, the slight gust will cause it to fall over, etch crazy egyptian symbols in your disc, and set your room on fire in one fluid motion.

that's not a great argument really...

xboxs and ps3s are cheaper than that now anyways, it was just a price ( I remember xboxs being 300 bucks a few months after launch too, so it's not far off).

And I can do a lot more with my tv than gaming as well

and people upgrade computers all the time, you never have the same computer for 6 years if it's a gaming computer.

look, you're not going to convince me computers are better just based on graphics mate, I don't care about them all that much

I don't hate computers, I don't hate computer gaming, I just think that it's a lot easier to buy an xbox or ps3 and be happy with it, over a computer

Games are cheaper for one. Got the new Devil May Cry for £12 the other day. Plus the games are more customisable so if there's something wrong it may be easier to fix or improve it.

I enjoy the xbox for it's controllers more than anything. They feel so much better than PS controllers to be honest.

Plus this whole paid vs. free online service argument is ridiculous. If you can't afford to pay the low monthly fee then you are probably too young to be playing online games anyway.

Hmm. A decent thread by mayslash. If it is to be the PS4, then this might be the signal for the end of all things to come.

I think I am more into the Xbox. Though I have both. But I heard a rumor a while back that paying for internet on it will become mandatory. If that's true, then I lost a bit of respect for them. They used to be cool, man! It would have to be pretty darn worth it for me to do that.

You don't constantly have to upgrade PCs. I'd say maybe every 4-5 years.

Some people do, but then some people have throwaway money

I love my consoles and I love my PC. But my PC easily gets the most playtime.

In which case, have your parents pay for it like 90% of the XBL community.

They YLOD was never even close to as prevalent as the RROD. There was a time where projections were north of 30% of 360s being faulty. That said, they did fix that, but the faulty Xbox disk drive was never fixed. Instead, they indirectly tried to fix their shitty disk problem by letting you DL the disc to your HD, relieving the stress on their precious drives.

Regardless, for someone who owned it from the first year with a 12g HD, DLing games was not really an option... and they still eat the disks, something I've never had a problem with on my PS3.

Look at what PS+ gives you, in comparison to Xbox Live. Free games every month, discounted prices on PSN purchases, full game trials, all for the same price as Xbox Live.

I'm not saying Xbox Live is a bad thing, I paid for it for years before I switched to PS3, just that they really need to look at how Sony does things in that one department.

XBL is like 90% kids is what I'm saying. When I went to PS3 the first thing I noticed about the online community(besides the quietness... which is preferred to screaming prepubes every game) was that the people for the most part were more adult.

I have a Ps3 and it's still going strong for about 3 years now. I imagine the price for the next console will be stupid and will need time to go down(years), so what I'll end up doing is when it gets to wear the Ps3 community dies down I'll just buy some computer parts and make one.

I think it's because the people that grew up with the PlayStation, straight for PS1 and nearing their 20s or are above 20, whereas the kids that grew up with the Xbox from the start are still in their early teens.

PlayStation One came out in 1994.
The first Xbox came out in 2001.

I've always done this anyway. It speeds up loading, reduces heat and prevents drive failure as you mentioned. Plus the new slim models have an upgraded disk drive I think (don't quote me).

I had the money for a 120gb HDD from release so I was lucky I guess but I've had it for 3 years and it's survived an earthquake and has never failed, probably because I looked after it. Both consoles are great but I just enjoyed the xbox more. Limiting yourself to one console just seems stupid to me.
