^ I totally get what you mean...

tbh I have never understood the whole anti gay thing.

Like, everyone have equal rights, no matter from what ethnic group you are , religion, etc. Why is sexual orientation any different?

I was going to make a longer post voicing my opinion, then i remembered that probably nobody will care.

ITT: England is super gay and awful and dumb.

If this were a sane world, we would be telling the gay youth about the health dangers of homosexual behavior, the increased exposure to life-altering illnesses such as AIDS and HIV, colon and rectal cancer and other health risks that come with the "gay lifestyle" rather than encouraging them to release their inner Richard Simmons and shame everyone else for ridiculing it.

I do not advocate violent behavior about gays but the children who get conned into the lifestyle aren't told until it is too late how most of them damage their health, physically and mentally.

Who is conning them?

Conned into the lifestyle? The same way the church brainwashes children from an early age starting at christenings then using fear tactics (hell , eternal damnation) to make sure they don't stray...pile of shite.

You almost implied that being gay was a choice but you can't be that stupid.

The homosexualized society that says it's okay to be gay and that you can be married while being gay, which is basically opening up more people to perversion.

yeah i appreciate that but when gay people are still dying b/c they don't get sex ed [at all] & end up getting AIDS i don't think gay marriage is or should be a priority tbh

You do realise that government have the ability to concentrate on more than one thing of a time, right?

There should be improved education, but that's not going to affect the millions of gay people out there who are out of formal education, who want to live their lives without discrimination and want to be able to marry the person they love.

I'm not sure an opened minded 21st century gay person is going to be too concerned with the "no sex before marriage" rule. So whether or not they get married is irrelevant to the spread of disease in the way you are describing.

yes, they're separate issues.

But this topic is in front of us right now. And once gay marriage is a thing, there'll be very little ground for arguing against gay sex being covered in sex ed.

The bill passed by a vote of 400-175 so you all know. Now it will go through a committee stage where final tweaks will be made and reappear before the House in the future. Would be hard to lose a 225 point majority during the committee stage so we can safely assume it'll pass as soon as it reappears.

EDIT: ^^^ We have civil partnerships which are legally the exact same as marriages but can't be made in churches.

Ah. still stupid. I just plain don't see this as a big issue, gay marriage got the green light here when I was 10 so I've never really seen the problem. It always seems so trivial and strange when I see other countries bickering over it.

Yeah, it always feels absurd to me when a (western) country hasn't legalized it/is actually protesting against it. It's something that should have been settled in the previous millennium.

because given the lack of an accurate objective way to prioritise things, the argument that "there are more important things to worry about" can be used against anything.

It's a cop out answer that does **** all except make pseudo-intellectual arseholes feel special.

The only bickering over it is within the Conservative Party, the public by and large supports it.

The only people I've heard speak out against it are old people on radio phone-in debates.

Now it's got a review period, one more vote in Commons, then one in Lords...

Still a way to go but getting through Commons is now a given. Hopefully Lords aren't complete wankstains, though they often are.

They need to be removed as soon as possible to be honest.

Not even our Conservatives really bickered or kicked up much of a fuss over it. This was 11 years ago as well. I just find it surprising that the motherland is so far behind its glorious Northern colony.
