I have Marshall Vs-8080 1x12 combo. I know Chuck used the 8100 model, I have been trying to get his tone for some time.

I am betting that there is more to his tone than just an amplifier. Take a look at the gear lists for Chuck's career and go from there.

FatalGear41 knows the ways of the obscure. I hear it's just not with Gibsons. Beware, Halloween approaches...

I got pretty damn close with random vs and a lp with a dimarzio xn2. The xn2 makes a pretty big difference if you ask me.

I'd honestly fap to anything with a set of genitals as long as I find it aesthetically appealing.

He has used plenty of gear, including Boss DS-1 (or was it SD-1? The orange distortion pedal) but when he started using Valvestate I dont think his rig was particularly complex. 1 gen Valvestate, G12-T75 and guitar with Dimarzio X2N bridge pickup were the basis starting from Individual Thought Patterns and up. *edit* Oh, and tuning to D Standard.

Anyway, yes you can. 8100 and 8080 are pretty much same amplifiers, former is just head version and more powerful.

Listen this.

Obviously the video is double tracked and SM57 mic adds its own tone but his settings were (according to comments)

Bass: max
Mid: 3-4
treb: 5
Gain: max
contour: 7-8
Volume: Max
Master: 3

Use this as starting point and fine tune to your taste. But basically its just a lot of gain (not hard with X2N ), very thick bass, mild mid scoop, moderate treble and contour set that it favors upper midrange but not turned to scooped zone.

Oh and make sure to change the tube in your Valvestate. The amp does not change much from tube rolling but bad tube does affect the tone. In my amp, which still had the original Marshall tube from early '90s, sounded rather hollow until I changed it.
