This piece is one of my first attempts at writing lyrics. It was written for the specific group I am starting to play with, which has quite a unique lineup. We have two lead vocalists, a male and a female, both with musical theater backgrounds. The drummer and I (bass) mainly have played metal. Filling out our line-up is an accordion player, who also knows keyboards quite well. This song gave me an idea for the sound I want for us. It's rock, but with some musical theater. It's not afraid to be humorous but isn't strictly comedy. Part of me thinks it's pretty solid but I'm not sure (I think it rhymes too much), and that's what brings me here. Enjoy!

(Pink is the female vocalist, blue the male, and black both)

I never thought I’d feel this way
If it’s the end he heard me pray
You thought you had my heart but now you know
It was the seeds of tears that I did sow
And now I stand here as you fall
And I think back to where it all went wrong

You make me realize
You make me know
You make me realize
That I’m better than you

I saw you lick the liberty bell
And then we got along so well
We’d talk and laugh the night away
My friends all said they thought you’re gay
That’s just like you to start a fight
At least it’s one thing you can do all night

You make me realize
You make me know
You make me realize
That I’m better than you

Your family loved me from the start
That’s just because you kept them in the dark
For a while I thought you might be the one
That’s nice, but now I just want a gun
You’re such a jerk you’ll never change
You’ll probably push me into my grave

You make me realize
You make me know
You make me realize
That I’m better than you

And now
Our time is at an end

Thank god
I don’t need a bullet in my head

Next time
I’ll go for someone taller

Your sister’s
Hotter I think I’ll call her

You make me realize
You make me know
You make me realize
That I’m better than you
I’m better than you
